ATTENTION!!! Important Note: All the translations below are my own (by Arria Cross). All are labelled “rough translation”, as they did not undergo any professional proofreading and/or editing and may lack literal and/or grammatical accuracy. I did my best, however, to convey the atmosphere and context of the conversations in this radio show.
This is the 25th episode of Kamiya Hiroshi (神谷浩史) and Ono Daisuke’s (小野大輔) radio show Dear Girl ~Stories~. Kamiya-san immediately comments on how September is already finished, and that it’s already October. Then OnoD reflects on their journey hosting DGS. All of them congratulate themselves. Then they thank their loyal “Dear Girl” listeners who continue to support them.
OnoD reminds everyone that Kamiya-san got into the new Gundam series. In turn, Kamiya-san announces that the series will start the week after (at the time of this episode), and for everyone to please watch the show.
Afterwards is the Futsuu Sto Corner (Futsuu Story/Ordinary Story) where they read and discuss letters sent to them by their listeners.
Kikuchinsuko-san (Listener): Kamiya-san, Ono-san, good evening.
Ono: Good evening.
Kikuchinsuko-san (Listener): I just thought about it, but Ono-san‘s name should not be OnoD but Ono-M. (In Japan, M is commonly used as short of masochist while S is for sadist. In DGS, Kamiya-san is often described as the S while OnoD is M. Go figure.)
Ono: Why is that?
Kikuchinsuko-san (Listener): You read it as Ono-Moo.
Both (Kamiya: HAHAHAHA!!! / Ono: HOHOHOHO!!!)
Kikuchinsuko-san (Listener): You write it as Ono-M but you read it as Ono-Moo. I thought that it will be easier to call you this way. What do you think?
Ono: I wonder about that.
Kamiya: How about you think about it seriously for a moment?
Ono: Uhm. . .It’s cute. I think it’s cute.
Kamiya: So what do you think of Ono-Moo?
Kamiya: Which one do you prefer between OnoD and Ono-Moo?
Ono: OnoD, of course.
Kamiya: Ah, is that so?
Ono: When I’m called Ono-Moo, it makes me feel like I’m too kind or something.
Kamiya: Then how does OnoD make you feel?
Ono: It’s ONO-D.
Kamiya: Like “Hey, OnoD”?
Ono: Yes, call me “Hey, OnoD.”
Kamiya: So you don’t like “Hey, Ono-Moo”?
Ono: Well, you see. Moo sounds like very kind and humble.
Kamiya: That’s too bad, isn’t it?
Ono: Ono-Moo, huh? M. . .So it’s like I should be M-suke? (Remove the Daisuke from his name and replace it as M, so M-suke)
Ono: M-suke? But you know, OnoD is already odd even for me. And unusual.
Ono: I’m Ecchi OnoD. (Ecchi rougly means perverted; in episode 6 and in many episodes, OnoD doesn’t hide that he’s a pervert) But you know what, I’m alright with whatever people want to call me with.
The next listener letter has a very long radio name, or what the hosts like to call as “dear name”.
Radio name: Between-OnoD-and0Souwa-san-who-is-more-sadist. I know that my name is very long so please call me “DS-DS” instead as my Dear Name.
Kamiya: This is long.
Ono: Yeah, it’s long.
DS-DS (Listener): Kamiyan-san, OnoD-san, good evening.
Ono: Good evening.
DS-DS (Listener): This may sound sudden, but I thought of how to make your show more exciting. Please wake up either Kamiya-san or OnoD-san at their houses in the morning.
DS-DS (Listener): Candid routines such as their shower faces. And also please show their sleepy faces, waking up faces, and sleeping faces which I’m sure are yummy. Please consider my suggestion seriously. I personally want to hear about sleepy OnoD.
Ono: Ooooooh. . . .
Kamiya: So that is that.
Ono: I see.
Kamiya: We will end up exposing ourselves, so I don’t think that we can do that here.
Ono: That’s true.
OnoD sounds like he’s open with this idea. Kamiya-san then suggests that what if they do it during their live event on November (during year of the episode). OnoD agrees that it’s doable. Kamiya-san excitedly suggests what OnoD should do starting from the hotel bed, at the pool, and other places.
Ono: That sounds good. Let’s do it.
Kamiya: Do it? So it’s like one of those things that you want to do at least once?
Ono: Yes, I want to try it, but of course, Kamiya-san must do it, too.
Kamiya: No, no, no. When I’m sleeping in the morning, I immediately wake up whenever I hear another person.
Ono: Oh, is that so?
Kamiya: Yes, so no.
Ono: Then we’ll just drug you (so you won’t wake up).
Kamiya: AHAHAHAHA!!! That’s no good. Are you an idiot? (chuckles)
Ono: Yes, I’m an idiot.
Kamiya: So we’ve already thought about this idea. Dear-Girl-whatever-your-name-was-again, even though your suggestion was bothersome, we thank you very much.
Ono: Well, we named this corner FUTSUU STORY (Ordinary Stories). Ordinary, right?
Kamiya: But we receive letters beyond ordinary, right?
Ono: Yes. But we’ll still be waiting for your letters.
Then they announce that fellow seiyuu Sugita Tomokazu–san’s chakushin voice is available for download at their DGS mobile website. Kamiya-san calls the ringtone Mecha-Sugita. They play some and I absolutely like them. My favourite is the battlefield ringtone. (Chakushin Voices are downloadable ringtones featuring the voices of different seiyuu, particularly the hosts in this show).
Next up is the Sylph Soudanshitsu Corner where they feature manga S.L.H Stray Love Hearts! (S・L・H ストレイ・ラブ・ハーツ!) by Shouoto Aya-sensei.
Ono: We already featured her many times here.
Kamiya: Isn’t it a bit odd that she has this many worries to send us?
Then they read the latest volume summary for the manga.
Kamiya: Well, for some reason, I am slotted to read tonight’s Nayami Story. Wish me luck. (OnoD is usually the one who reads this segment.)
Shouoto Aya-sensei no Nayami:
I was disappointed with Ono-san last time, no, he was so terrible that he’s cute. But be that as it may that I’m featured in this corner again, I’ll give you a new worry. However, the nayami stories recently were so interesting that I can’t think of new worries. So because Ono-san terribly failed by himself the last time, please (lit. both of you get revenge at another place; context: both of you try again for the sake of his previous failure). Make it a good remembrance for me, alright?
(She’s talking about episode 22 where the 2 hosts act out the a scene in S.L.H. Let’s just say that OnoD gave a less than stellar performance, according to the mangaka.)
Ono: Don’t say that I failed.
Ono: She hit it where it hurts.
Kamiya: There were some interesting parts.
Ono: Yes, yes.
Kamiya: Unfortunately, sensei deemed it as a failure.
Ono: Well, I will take this as a learning experience.
Ono: As expected.
Kamiya: If we think about this on a more positive note, sensei has given us another chance.
Ono: Yes. You’re right.
Kamiya: If we think about last time like an audition, it’s simply like Ono-san failing as a potential candidate.
Kamiya: This time, since the two of us will try again for you and do our best. . .
Ono: Yes, yes. We’ll do our best.
Kamiya: I thought that I will also give it a try, but what should we do. . .
Ono: Oh, volume 4 of Sylph Comics has just been released.
Kamiya: Yes. So everyone, please get your copies of Volume 4. Now, Ono-kun will do a “get your Volume 4 copy” song. Go!
Ono: (sings a terrible song) Vo-luuume. . .Vo-luuume. . .Watch for it! Aaaaaw! Volume. . .has become 4. . .I cannot eat~
Kamiya: (chuckles) This time, too, is unfortunate. (laughs while talking) This time, good grief. AHAHAHA!!!
Ono: Really. It’s terribly difficult to do this so suddenly.
Kamiya: (chuckles) I’m glad that it’s over for this time, but good grief. Everyone, we’re terribly sorry.
They act out (by voice) some scenes in S.L.H. They basically redo the Sylph Soudanshitsu Corner from episode 22. It’s so funny because OnoD can’t do a female voice. He sounds like an elf, rather than a girl.
Kamiya: (out of breath) I’m a bit exhausted. Shouoto-sensei, how did we do? We’ve had enough of this, sorry.
Finally, they do the Dear Letter Corner where their listeners can send letters addressed to people that they normally can’t express their feelings in person. This episode’s theme is “Arigatou“. The letter sent is from Joy-san who addressed her letter to her former classmates from her third year A-section class. She just basically thanks them for the good memories that they shared. It’s a very sweet letter.
Overall, this is a funny episode. I hope that you enjoyed it as much as I did. Listen to a recorded copy of this episode below, which was kindly uploaded by dgs2703. どうもありがとう。
