ATTENTION!!! Important Note: All the translations below are my own (by Arria Cross). All are labelled “rough translation”, as they did not undergo any professional proofreading and/or editing and may lack literal and/or grammatical accuracy. I did my best, however, to convey the atmosphere and context of the conversations in this radio show.
This is the 26th episode of Kamiya Hiroshi (神谷浩史) and Ono Daisuke’s (小野大輔) radio show Dear Girl ~Stories~. They begin by congratulating themselves for another hit, and HiroC says that there are some weird rumours floating around. They read some letters from their listeners containing some of these rumours.
Miku-san (Listener Letter): Is it true that Dear Girls is ending this September? I look forward to this show every week, and HiroC-san and OnoD’s duo is super amusing. If you’re ending, please don’t end. I beg you. I want you to continue on this show.
No name (Listener Letter): Is it true that the show’s final episode will air soon? Is is true that “Storyteller” will return?
Youkeika (Listener Letter):
Letter Title: REQUEST
Please host “Storyteller” from now on, too, Kamiya-san and Ono-san!
Arria: I’m not familiar with this at all, but based on these letters, it seems to me that “Storyteller” is a previous radio show that perhaps have been replaced by DGS. If you have more information about this case, I would appreciate it if you share the whole story with me. ありがとう。
OnoD: What? What?
HiroC: What is the meaning of this? For some reason, according to rumours, this show is ending soon. What’s up with that?
After reading the letters, OnoD reads this episode’s title. I feel a bit sorry for him because the title makes fun of his watch. Poor OnoD. Why do they always make fun of him?
OnoD: (reads the episode’s title)
HiroC: WAHAHAHA! I didn’t say that. It was Tsuba-san.
OnoD: Tsuba. . . .
After the short break, he acts a little insulted by the title.
HiroC: This is KAMIYA HIROSHI!!! (in an energetic voice)
OnoD: This is Ono Daisuke. . . (in a sad voice)
HiroC: Why the depressed tone? Act more excited!
OnoD: Well, whatever. . . since I have a watch like this!
Then HiroC changes the subject to that of making their own DGS manga.
HiroC: Well then. Didn’t we talk about some weeks ago that we want to serialize our original DGS manga at Sylph Comics?
OnoD: Yes. We’re totally motivated!
HiroC: Well, we’re calling it Kamiya Hiroshi and Ono Daisuke’s original manga, but well. . .it’s really going to be by a ghostwriter, so. . .yeah.
HiroC then says that they plan to be the manga’s protagonists, of course, and that it will be a detective story, but nothing’s concrete yet. He also says that the Sylph Editorial Department is still searching for someone to actually write and draw the manga for them. Well, if you’ve read their Hibiki manga, then you’ll know that this is pretty much the actual premise. So good for them for actually fulfilling one of their many goals for this show.
The two of them talk a bit more about how they want their manga to turn out. HiroC assumes that the manga will be a 4-panel comic, which is usually the format for most gag mangas. OnoD expresses his hesitation. HiroC questions him, saying that it was OnoD’s idea in the first place. OnoD finally says that he wants their manga to be a little more serious than a gag manga.
Afterwards, they read a letter from a listener with some ideas as for the manga.
Next up is the Sylph Danwashitsu Corner (changed from Sylph Soudanshitsu). They more or less mean the same thing, as you can hear from the 2 hosts making fun of the corner’s new title. In this corner, they introduce a manga titled “Shakuyaku Botan: Yuri no hana” by mangaka Nakamura Asumiko-sensei (中村明日美子). Then they read a Futsuu Story (Ordinary Story) sent by Nakumura-sensei. (If you’ve noticed, they changed this segment from Nayami Story to Futsuu Story. The Futsuu Story Corner is usually when they read the letters from their listeners.)
Nakamura Asumiko-sensei no Futsuu Story:
I often get stomach troubles. What should I do?
HiroC: What the heck is this? It’s nonsense.
OnoD: It can’t be helped.
HiroC: Well, it can’t be helped this week. Let’s hope that it’s better next week.
HiroC: Well, but if she’s asking what she should do when she has stomach troubles. . .well, go to the hospital.
Then OnoD announces that they have a special item for Nakamura Asumiko-sensei: a HARAMAKI!
Finally, they do the 1-Phrase Story Corner, where they read 1-Phrase submissions from their listeners. This is one of my favourite corners in this show because most of the time, the hosts read the lines with naughty connotations.
1. Mata yatte shimatta (HiroC)
I ended up doing it again.
2. Nani? Kono Kuuki? (OnoD)
What’s up with this atmosphere?
3. Mou Kanbenshite yo. . .Ono-kun. (HiroC)
Give me a break already.
I hope that you enjoyed it as much as I did. Listen to a recorded copy of this episode below, which was kindly uploaded by dgs2703. どうもありがとう。
