First Departure Towards Our Dreams

hunter x hunter 2011

Rating:  😀 😀 😀 🙂 (3 & 1/2 out of 5 grins)

HUNTER x HUNTER is one of my most favourite anime ever!  I love the manga and both the first and the latest (just “ended”) anime adaptations.  In the latest anime adaptation HUNTER x HUNTER (2011), the opening theme song for the whole series alternates between 2 versions of Departure! by rock and heavy metal singer-songwriter Ono Masatoshi (小野正利).

The first version is used for the first, third, fourth, and sixth openings.  I just love how Ono-san sings the high notes.  It’s very catchy, and the guitars are AWE-SOOOOME!!!  But what I love the most is the lyrics.  I think that they’re very reflective of Gon’s goal of becoming a hunter and searching for his father in the series.  No, I’ll change that.  I think that it’s reflective of all the most of the people in the series doing their best to acquire a hunter license.  Like what the song says, “You just try again!”  Even if these people fail over and over, they just try the exams again because they know that there is a greater reward waiting for them once they succeed.

And did I mention that the opening’s animation are so cool?  I think that the animators did an excellent job in synchronizing the graphics with the music.  Looooooove!  Watch the different openings using the first version of Departure! below.  Enjoy!
