Attack on Titan Procrastination

< Day 5 | Day 7 >
Day 6:  Anime You Want to See But Haven’t Yet

attack on titan 2

I’m so terrible.  I’ve been saying this for more than a year now.  I want to watch Attack on Titan!  But it seems that I never get to.  (sigh)  I’ve had so many opportunities to watch it, but I always procrastinate.  I’ve even read so many great reviews about it.

Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin/進撃の巨人) is a series created by mangaka Isayama Hajime-sensei (諫山 創).  I more or less know what’s it about, since I’ve read so many articles about it before even watching it.  Let me tell you something.  It’s number 1 on my “to-watch” list but lately, I tend to re-watch my favourite anime series such as ONE PIECE, Bakuman。, HUNTER x HUNTER, Death Noteetc. instead of watching other series that I haven’t watched before.

It’s just that I’m not in the mood to watch other series yet.  When this mood eases, then I’ll finally watch Attack on Titan.  I don’t know when that’s going to be, though.  Nevertheless, I can’t help but feel excited with the announcement that there’s going to be a Season 2 for the anime.  Perhaps I should wait until Season 2?  Hmmm.  And of course, who can pass up the upcoming live-action movie starring actor Miura Haruma (三浦 春馬)?  (doki-doki) (●♡∀♡)

I know that I’ll eventually watch this anime.  It’s just a matter of when.  Perhaps when I’m tired re-watching my favourite anime. . .hmmm. . . .but surely, I’ll watch Attack on Titan since it’s number 1 on “to-watch” list.

  1. I remembered the first time I watched the PV and it gave me goosebumps. O.O I couldn’t miss the series, so I was faithful when I watched it. XD I even watched it with my college friends in our apartment. We loved the series so much that we’re really excited for the sequel. XD

    1. I feel so out of place, whenever people start talking about it so excitedly & I haven’t even watched it. (sigh) Oh well. That’s what I get for putting it off for so long. Maybe on my next break, I’ll finally watch it. That’s a maybe, though. But I’ll eventually watch it, that’s for sure. 😉

      1. That’s what I felt when SAO was airing. But when I actually got to watch it, I was rather disappointed. “What’s with all the hype? This doesn’t meet my expectations at all. It’s storytelling is so messy!” But that might not necessarily be true for you on SnK. 🙂 Don’t worry about being left out.

      2. I haven’t watched Sword Art Online, as well. But I’ve been recommended to watch it many times already. I hear it’s good. Hmmm. Oh well. I’ll watch all of these eventually.

      3. I usually like waiting for episodes to finish airing before I watch them, because it drives me crazy to wait every week. Even for my favourite series like ONE PIECE, I stop watching after a finished arc and wait for the next arc to be finished before I start watching it again. Although sometimes, I just can’t help myself and just watch an anime even if it’s not finished yet. How about you?

      4. I used to afford time waiting for the weekly episodes of my anime. Times have changed. I’m in college now and am busier than I was in high school. I even feel guilty sometimes when I watch an episode or two. Now, I’m getting used to being delayed in watching my anime. Before, I’d feel sad for that, but now I’m cool with that. I intentionally waited for this summer to finish so that I could just download the episodes all at once. Now, I’m in the process of watching my summer anime backlog. That would also mean that I won’t start watching fall anime until I finish the summer anime. XD

      5. Same here. Oh well. That’s life. It’s not like you can do anything and everything you want in an instant. Besides, I think that you’ll feel better if you delay your gratification of watching anime. Well, if I won’t be able to watch all the titles on my “to-watch” list this Christmas break, then I’ll just have to wait during summer vacation to watch them like you.

  2. I enjoyed it, however was left wanting more. I was also not satisfied with watching it on Adult Swim in English because I couldn’t wait every week, it moved way too slow for me. Finished the series on Netflix and glad I did for sure. Watch it, it goes by pretty quickly, and you’ll be wanting season 2 right away I think.

    1. You make a point that the English version lacks the emotional impact of the Japanese voice actors. Yes, there are many unanswered questions that will need to be answered in the second season. THEY BETTER! I hope that this series has a reasonable conclusion, because I have invested so much in it so far.

    2. Indeed. Most people tell me to watch it because it’s a pretty quick anime to watch. Hmmmm. But I’m thinking perhaps I should wait for season 2? I don’t want to be left hanging. Oh well. I’ll think about it on my next break. Thanks for dropping by!

  3. Actually, after watching both the anime and reading the manga I can tell you this much: read the manga first!
I always loved the manga, it is full of great art and scary moments. It was and still is one of my favorite horror manga’s. I always wanted there to be an anime and pvc figures made of the characters. Yet now that there is an anime I think it’s overhyped and all of the sudden everybody likes shingeki no kyojin while before there was just me reading the manga alone. Without reading the manga first I think people are just wannabe attack on titan fans. 😀 These days everybody is talking about the anime and wearing the clothes on conventions and so on. While before there wasn’t anything of that. It was just the manga and it was like nobody cared. Comparing those two (the anime and manga) I’ve come to the conclusion that the anime is just a weak rip-off from a masterpiece manga and that’s why everybody is so into the anime. Sure it’s the same story and everything. But it’s not the same as the manga. The manga’s art is much more intens and bloody. Also the scene’s and story are actually better brought in the manga than in the anime. All in all the manga gives a certain vibe which you just won’t get watching the anime. So before you watch the anime try and read the manga first. Or at least try doing so for the first episodes. Who knows maybe you’ll get what I mean by all this. 😀

    Greetings from Bryandl 😉

    1. That’s a great suggestion. Actually, I was planning on doing that first. With the majority of the series that I watch, I always make sure to read the manga. I’m always so curious about comparing the manga to the anime, if the anime loyally followed the manga’s plot or if it made some changes. Besides, I don’t want to be a “wannabe attack on titan fan”, right? 😀
On my next break, I’ll read the manga & perhaps watch the anime, too. Then you can rest assured that you’ll not be alone enjoying the manga anymore. Thank you & keep on blogging. Cheers!
