ATTENTION!!! Important Note: All the translations below are my own (by Arria Cross). All are labelled “rough translation”, as they did not undergo any professional proofreading and/or editing and may lack literal and/or grammatical accuracy. I did my best, however, to convey the atmosphere and context of the conversations in this radio show.
This is the 29th episode of Kamiya Hiroshi (神谷浩史) and Ono Daisuke’s (小野大輔) radio show Dear Girl ~Stories~. This is a “special” episode because in addition to the normal episode, there is a special interview at the end of the show, where the 2 hosts are interviewed about DGS. I didn’t translate this episode in my usual transcript-style format because try as I might, I didn’t really find this episode that interesting. I did, however, did my best to provide summaries of what I think are the highlights of this episode. I hope that you enjoy it more than I did.
First of all, I just want to share my confusion. It turns out that seiyuu Nakamura Yuuichi (中村 悠一) is in this episode. If you remember, he guested in the previous episode. It’s just that he was never formally introduced here. You can just hear his voice. It’s only at the end that he introduces himself. Well, there’s nothing really wrong with that, but I just personally prefer that they properly introduce him. But at least, he honoured his promise from last episode that he’ll come back.
Now let’s get on with the show.
At the beginning, the 2 hosts promote their upcoming event titled “Lovers Only” which was first announced in episode 27. Then they do the Futsuu Sto (Futsuu Story/Ordinary Story) Corner where they read letters sent to them by their listeners. But before they begin this corner, they first announce that they’re “maybe” going to release a DGS CD before the year it out. There’s this funny conversation where HiroC argues that OnoD’s name “Daisuke” sounds like daisuki (I like/love you!), while his name “Kamiya” doesn’t really sound like anything. It’s so cute when OnoD tries very hard to think of something that sounds like HiroC’s name. Finally, OnoD stutters “Kami-sama?” which means “God”. I didn’t translate the first letter & the following discussion because I didn’t find it that interesting.
The second letter requests that the two hosts cosplay into Dirty Pair, to which HiroC comments that the 2 of them are being called the Dirty Pair too much. HiroC asks if it’s really alright for them to cosplay female anime characters wearing mini-skirts. He asks OnoD about his opinion, but OnoD remains quiet at the beginning.
Afterwards, they do the Sylph Danwashitsu Corner. They introduce the manga Anonymous by mangaka Imamura Youko-sensei (今村陽子). If you remember, this manga has been featured in episode 9. I love how HiroC & OnoD read some lines from the manga. Then they read a Futsuu Sto (formerly called Nayami Story or Story of Troubles) sent by Imamura-sensei. HiroC shows little interest in answering her question, but OnoD says that they should answer because that’s the point of the show.
In answer to Imamura-sensei‘s letter, HiroC announces that they’re going to give her a special present: GLOVES!!! The first time that they gave a special present in response to a mangaka‘s letter was in episode 26, when Nakamura Asumiko-sensei (中村明日美子) shared her stomach troubles, to which the hosts responded in giving her a haramaki. OnoD then remarks that it’s nothing really special to give out gloves or haramaki as presents. HiroC then came up with the idea of writing a message on the gloves to make them more special. Nakamura Yuuichi-san wrote a message on the gloves with them.
After the show, there is a special interview called Mediaworks Dengeki 15×15 where HiroC & OnoD talk about DGS. They promote their upcoming events and even the making of their DGS manga. HiroC shares that their manga apparently will be filled with beautiful people only.
They also explain the Nayami Story Corner (which is now defunct). HiroC explains that it’s the kind of corner where a mangaka asks what kind of toppings they should have for their soba noodles. He also shares Hoshino Lily-sensei‘s (星野 リリィ) Nayami Story about the durian which forced the 2 hosts to eat the stinky fruit, leading to Duriangelion (one of my most favourite episodes in the show). If you remember, HiroC hated it and would always remember it with much disgust.
He also shares about OnoD’s mother, which he called Mama-D. They also talk about a fellow seiyuu, Sugita Tomokazu, who guested in the show before. The interviewer then suggests that the next time Sugita Tomokazu guests, he should eat durian while calling Mama-D. The 2 hosts think that it’s a great idea.
That’s basically much it. It’s a “so-so” episode, filled with many references from past episodes. Nothing really awesome, but still pretty fun. I hope that you enjoyed it more than I did. Listen to a recorded copy of this episode below, which was kindly uploaded by dgs2703. どうもありがとう。
