ATTENTION!!! Important Note: All the translations below are my own (by Arria Cross). All are labelled “rough translation”, as they did not undergo any professional proofreading and/or editing and may lack literal and/or grammatical accuracy. I did my best, however, to convey the atmosphere and context of the conversations in this radio show.
This is the 32nd episode of Kamiya Hiroshi (神谷浩史) and Ono Daisuke’s (小野大輔) radio show Dear Girl ~Stories~. This is a fun episode, a great improvement from the last one, where I almost gave up on translating. The 2 hosts begin the episode by remembering the last episode where they introduce Chanko-Chanko-chan.
OnoD: All he did for the show was eat.
HiroC: Why does god love this show so much? It’s wonderful, isn’t it?
The title is about their DGS manga which is in production during the airing of this episode. In episode 30, Sugihara Chiaka-san, the Editor-in-Chief of Sylph Comics guested, giving everyone the go sign to produce the DGS manga.
Then they talk about their DGS event “Lovers Only”, where they repeat the misconception that the title is about rubber because in Japanese, “lovers” is pronounced as “rabaasu” which sounds like “rubbers”.
Next up is Futsuu Sto (Futsuu Story/Ordinary Story) Corner where they read letters sent by listeners and discuss them. This time, they only read one letter, congratulating them on the release of their DGS CD. Then OnoD promotes his mini-album titled “Hinemosu”.
Finally, they do the Sylph Danwashitsu Corner where they introduce and read some lines from manga published by Sylph Comics, and read letters sent to them by the mangaka. This time, they introduce a manga titled Level 4 by Mikabe Sesuna-sensei (岬下部 せすな).
Mikabe-sensei has been featured before in episode 16, where the 2 hosts give her a soccer ball in response to her “Nayami Story”. They play a footage where the DGS staff personally gives Mikabe-sensei the soccer ball. She thanks the 2 hosts for the ball, and announces that because of it, she plans to draw a soccer manga.
Mikabe Sesuna-sensei no Futsuu Story:
As seiyuu, both of you act in many kinds of anime, right? Well, in reality, which of you is better in acting?
HiroC: Oy! What the heck is this?
OnoD: This is a harsh question.
HiroC: Isn’t this absurd? Well, between the two of us, asking this question is just rude, right?
OnoD: And besides, we have this “sempai-kouhai” (senior-junior) relationship between us.
For this issue, the DGS staff devised a special segment called “Damemoto Etude” where they’re given a topic and they act on the spot (“ad-lib”).
Scenario: OnoD’s female manager (Mausu) has a secret love affair with HiroC’s male manager (Aoni). OnoD will pretend to be his manager, while HiroC will pretend as his manager.
OnoD: This is troubling for us, you know. . .
HiroC: It’ll be alright.
OnoD: We belong in 2 different production companies.
HiroC: What are you saying? Isn’t it great that we belong in different companies?
OnoD: Well. . .even if you say that. . .
HiroC: Because if we work in the same place, our “office love” will be much more difficult. And then we can become the bridge that connects our 2 production companies.
OnoD: We can become the bridge?
HiroC: Yes, we’ll become the bridge. If we go out, our relationship will connect Aoni and Mausu, so. . .
OnoD: I wonder.
HiroC: So don’t be too against this.
OnoD: I understand. . .so if I ask you to come over to Mausu, will you come?
HiroC: That’s not what we’re talking about here.
OnoD: Well then. . .let’s break up.
HiroC: (not really listening, continues talking) Didn’t we talk about moving Ono into Aoni before, right?
HiroC: He was always complaining about Mausu, as if he wants to quit and that he’s tired.
OnoD: But you know, he’s really giving his best. . .uhm, did he really say all of that?
HiroC: (not really listening, continues talking) So as I’m saying, if both of you come together to Aoni at the same time, then that would be a problem, you know.
OnoD: Well, yes.
HiroC: So, let’s change up when you’ll come over.
OnoD: Ah! That’s a good idea.
HiroC: First will be Ono. Then you’ll come over.
OnoD: But what about our conversation about giving us Hiroshi?
HiroC: Kamiya? That’s impossible.
OnoD: Why? Don’t you love me? If you really love me, then you’ll give me Hiroshi!
OnoD: You know what? I actually love Hiroshi!
HiroC: Eh? Eh? Wait a minute?
OnoD: I LOVE Hiroshi, HIROSHI!
HiroC: Well, then. Let me say this, too.
OnoD: Ok. Then say it clearly.
HiroC: I. . .
HiroC: More than I love you. . .
HiroC: I love myself.
All: AHAHAHA! AHAHAHA!!!
HiroC: This topic is too difficult!
OnoD: Yes, it’s difficult.
HiroC: So how did we do, Mikabe-sensei? Which of the two of us do you think is better in acting?
This is a very fun episode. I hope that you enjoyed it, as much as I did. Listen to a recorded copy of this episode below, which was kindly uploaded by dgs2703. どうもありがとう。
