ATTENTION!!! Important Note: All the translations below are my own (by Arria Cross). All are labelled “rough translation”, as they did not undergo any professional proofreading and/or editing and may lack literal and/or grammatical accuracy. I did my best, however, to convey the atmosphere and context of the conversations in this radio show.
Before I start this episode translation (ET), I want to greet all of you, my fellow DGS fans, a MERRY, MERRY CHRISTMAS! I wasn’t actually planning on posting an ET this month, but I heard your pleas loud and clear. The last ET was more than a month ago. So I thought, what a better way to answer your requests by posting an ET on Christmas Eve. So here it is. My DGS Christmas present to all of you. Enjoy!
This is the 33rd episode of Kamiya Hiroshi (神谷浩史) and Ono Daisuke’s (小野大輔) radio show Dear Girl ~Stories~. The two are very energetic as they start the show. HiroC’s voice is cutesy, while OnoD’s is hunky.
The first corner is Futsuu Sto (Futsuu Story/Ordinary Story) Corner where they read letters from their listeners and discuss them. The first letter is from Hitoi-san.
Hitoi-san: PiyoC-san (HiroC) & OnoD-san, good evening.
OnoD: Good evening.
Hitoi-san: This may be sudden, but I want to know if both you use any perfume? Please tell me what brands you use. By the way, my impression is that PiroC’s scent is “simple”, while OnoD’s scent is “sweet”. Am I right?
OnoD: Ah ha~ ha~ ha~ ha~ Uhm. I’m a little impressed.
OnoD: It’s just that this mail is very “Dear Girl-like”, you know.
HiroC: Yes, you’re right. It’s been a while since we get this kind of mails that I’ve already forgotten. (in a sexy voice) Well then, so what kind of perfume do you use, Ono-kun?
OnoD: (in an exaggerated “English” pronunciation) You see, I use Dolce & Gabbana’s Light Blue.
(staff laughing in the background)
HiroC: Can you pronounce it properly?
OnoD: Ah, you’re right. They might not understand it. (tries to pronounce it the “Japanese” way) Doruche ando Gabbana no. . .
HiroC: Well, that doesn’t sound good.
OnoD: Do. . .Doruche ando Gabbano no. . .Raito. .
Now you know what brand of perfume OnoD uses. If you’re a big fan of him, perhaps you might like to purchase Dolce & Gabbana: Light Blue, so OnoD feels like he’s always with you. (*≧艸≦) OnoD shares that he received this “sweet” perfume from a Taitem-san, and that this Taitem-san is listening to this radio show. As for HiroC, he says that he doesn’t really have a favourite perfume brand that he uses. He just buys the scents that he likes, recently from the internet. He also remarks that he prefers to smell “natural”.
The next listener letter is from Dear Girl Name “Niku-san” who proposes a five-cast member DGS featuring HiroC & OnoD plus the 3 guest seiyuu so far, Angen-san (Yasumoto Hiroki), Sugita (Tomokazu), & Nakamura (Yuuichi). HiroC asks OnoD what would be his requested pay percentage when this happens. OnoD answers that he wants more than 70%. HiroC tells him he wants too much. They discuss about this proposition, and both of them agree that it would be a challenge to have a radio show with 5 regular hosts because everything would be too long, too broad, and too complicated. OnoD then dubs themselves as the “DG5”. In the end, the two conclude that this idea is impossible.
Afterwards, they read the announcements/advertisements in exaggerated “English” pronunciations.
HiroC: Why are you speaking like that? These aren’t even English!
The next corner is the Sylph Danwashitsu Corner where they introduce and read some lines from manga published in the Sylph Comics. This time, they introduce the manga Fujosshisu! (腐女子っス!) by Okachimachi Hato-sensei. Then they read a letter sent by the mangaka.
Okachimachi Hato-sensei no Futsuu Sto:
In the Hato household, we each use our own shampoo, so there’s a lot of shampoo varieties. But since we’re mostly women, even the males including papa use shampoo for women. There are no shampoos specifically for men. My question is what kind of “manly” things are in men things (i.e. shampoo)?
After OnoD reads the letter, HiroC expresses his annoyance about receiving this kind of useless letters in this corner. OnoD answers that at least the letter is not about food this time. In response to the letter, the 2 performs an on-the-spot skit where they deliver one-line answers after a bell rings. They deliver their one-line answers in tone that made me laugh and go kyaa and doki-doki.
The last corner is the Dear Letter Corner where they read letters from their listeners who want to convey their feelings to people who are important to them, but don’t have the courage to tell their feelings personally. This time, the them is “Thank You.”
Yumi, it’s been a while, isn’t it? Are you enjoying yourself there? It’s been 6 years already since you left. Our high school graduation and such passed already. Next year, we’ll be working adults in society. We only spent a short time together but during that short time, I received so much smiles, energy, and courage from you. Thank you very, very much. You are still and will always be my best friend. Until the day we meet again.
Aaaaw. So sweet!
Overall, this is a fun episode. The topics are so-so, but the hosts balance these out with their energy and enthusiasm.
I hope that you enjoyed it, as much as I did. Listen to a recorded copy of this episode below, which was kindly uploaded by dgs2703. どうもありがとう。
