ATTENTION!!! Important Note: All the translations below are my own (by Arria Cross). All are labelled “rough translation”, as they did not undergo any professional proofreading and/or editing and may lack literal and/or grammatical accuracy. I did my best, however, to convey the atmosphere and context of the conversations in this radio show.
Doumo, my dear fellow DGS fans! As promised, today is a guaranteed episode translation (ET). Why? Well, that’s because it’s February 20 and DG5 Member Nakamura Yuuichi (中村 悠一) is turning 35 today! Yay, yay! As a way of celebrating, I present you, my dear fellow DGS fans, with a guaranteed ET. Let’s wish Nakamura-san a happy birthday today, shall we?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, NAKAMURA YUUICHI!!!
This is the 43rd episode of Kamiya Hiroshi (神谷浩史) and Ono Daisuke’s (小野大輔) radio show Dear Girl ~Stories~. They welcome 3 special guests: the actors who play the 3 ikemen detectives from the movie adaptation of the manga ToriCon (Triple Complex) by mangaka Nekota Yonezou-sensei. If you’ll remember from episode 41, HiroC & OnoD accuse ToriCon for “stealing” the premise of their then upcoming DGS manga.
HiroC introduces the guests: Shindo Gaku (進藤 学), Minami Keisuke (南圭介), and Yagami Ren (八神蓮).
HiroC: What do you think, Ono-kun? Don’t you think this company are all entirely handsome?
Arria: HiroC, as usual, is goading OnoD. OnoD has been called by his fans “handsome” & he likes being called that way.
OnoD: Today is war.
HiroC: So you’re already rearing to fight, huh?
OnoD: It’s Ikemen VS. Handsome.
HiroC: Eeh? Really?
OnoD: It’s a full-out war!
HiroC: By the way, do you have any desire to run away?
OnoD: Not even a little.
HiroC: It’s 3 against 1, you know. So it might get nasty.
OnoD: I don’t think of it that way. Today, my only advantage is that we don’t have to show our faces to the audience. . .Only our voices are required. . .
OnoD: Because this is a radio show. . .
HiroC: Well, I think that’s more than enough. Ahaha!
OnoD: I think that it’s already a lost cause from the start.
HiroC: What are you talking about?
OnoD: I can’t win against these 3 people.
HiroC: It’ll be alright, OnoD. I said you can win. We can devise various strategies to help you win, since we’re only using our voices today.
Even though I know he’s joking, I still think that HiroC is sweet in his own way, encouraging OnoD not to lose to their 3 guests. Finally, the 3 guests introduce themselves.
Shindo: Hello! This is Shindou Gaku who plays the “Ace”.
Minami: This is Minami Keisuke who plays the “King”.
Yagami: I’m Yagami Ren who plays the “Jack”.
HiroC comments that their 3 guests are “glittering” because they’re too handsome. Then HiroC & OnoD read the synopsis of ToriCon.
HiroC: How do the 3 of you feel when playing your respective roles?
Shindo: Playing the role of “Ace” is having a strong sense of responsibility, especially on watching over the others, like an older brother.
HiroC: I see. So like an older brother. Next?
Minami: Playing the role of “King” is being a very optimistic, simple, and bright character. He acts first before thinking.
HiroC: He seems like a cute character.
Minami: Well. . a little. . .but he also has a lot going on. . .
Shindo: Just admit that he’s a cute character. What are you complaining about?
Minami: But “cute”?
OnoD: And he’s wearing a pompadour, you know. It’s “cute”, you know.
Yagami: Playing “Jack” is being superb and cool. But he loses his temper quite faster more than anyone else.
HiroC: Ah. Even if he looks so cool, he has that kind of personality.
They say that the main story differs in the movie from the manga, though the 3 detectives setting still remains. It’s more like a spin-off than a faithful adaptation of the manga. HiroC then asks the 3 if they’ve ever met Hato-sensei, informing them that she writes the manga reports from Sylph Comics for DGS. They talk about about Hato-sensei briefly.
OnoD: It seems that Yagami-kun’s character is called “prince”.
HiroC: Eeeh? Why prince?
Shindo: Well, because even if he’s supposed to wear a uniform, it’s more like a cape (mantle).
HiroC: So it’s more like he’s wearing his personal clothes instead of the school uniform. That’s kind of embarassing. Ahaha.
Minami: Well, because he’s trying to imitate people from the Medieval Times in Europe.
HiroC: Are you really supposed to be in school?
HiroC then comments that wearing a cape is like doing cosplay. Then Yagami says that the cape is more like a poncho than a cape. Then they describe the cape to explain that it’s really “prince-like”.
Finally, they do Sylph Danwashitsu Corner. Instead of reading a letter from a featured mangaka, the 3 guests read their own letter to HiroC & OnoD. They ask them to teach them how to act in a “high-tension & cool” way in movies. For this, DGS decides to do an acting battle between OnoD & the 3 guests.
The 4 of them will do a skit. The scenario is “to save a kidnapped friend in a high-tension and cool way“. A successful acting will receive a clear bell sound, while an unsuccessful and “weird” acting will receive a gunshot “fail” sound.
OnoD: Uhm, wait. I’ve noticed that HiroC is on a roll today. You’re doing your parts today very fluently. So I think that you should participate in this, too.
HiroC: I’m not going to do it.
OnoD: Whaaaat?! That’s so unfair!
HiroC: This is the moment to redeem yourself, OnoD, so that you can regain confidence in yourself.
“HIGH-TENSION & COOL” ONO-D
HiroC: Wah! Help me!
OnoD: (grunts) Hiroshi! HIROSHIIIII!!! Hey, you criminal! Let go of Hiroshi. You’re despicable, aren’t you? What? I don’t have any weapons with me. You’ll know it just by looking. I understand. I’ll remove my clothing one by one. This is fine, right? (grunts, pretends to remove clothes) Is this fine? (grunts, pretends to remove clothes) How about this? (more grunts, pretends to remove everything) Is this fine yet?! I don’t have any weapons, you see. Look at me! Look at me! Look at my EVERYTHING! I don’t have anything!
Criminal (3 Ikemen Guests): We understand.
OnoD: Alright, so listen to me. I’ll sing a song for your defeat. Ahem, ahem. Wait, Hiroshi. Don’t run away yet. Here I go. Kawasa~
HiroC: That’s enough.
Next up is the “Ace” played by Shindo Gaku.
“HIGH-TENSION & COOL” SHINDO GAKU
HiroC: Wah! Help me!
Shindo: I’m riding a huge bulldozer. GA GA GA GA!!! Did you wait long? I came to save you.
HiroC & OnoD: AHAHAHA!!!
Shindo: Ace-style attack! Pyu Pyu Pyu Pyu (gun sound effects) Here comes the helicopter. Come and I’ll capture you! Hmph. Farewell!
OnoD: Seriously? That’s awesome!
HiroC: Awesome! Very good, very good!
OnoD: It’s indeed high-tension.
Shindo: I thought that a bulldozer–
HiroC: The bulldozer was a great idea.
Shindo: I had the image that a bulldozer and a helicopter will be cool.
Everyone’s impressed & compliments Shindo.
Next up is the “Jack” or as they call him “prince”, played by Yagami Ren.
“HIGH-TENSION & COOL” YAGAMI REN
HiroC: Wah! Help me!
Yagami: Excuse me! I’m delivering a package from Triple P. Uhm, wait. This is not yours? If I don’t return with money, my boss will get mad at me. Yes, yes. 2 thousand yen will be fine. Yes. Uhm, do you have 5 thousand? Seriously? Yes, I understand. Ah, I’m gonna get fired! I’ll take my leave!
Well, that was quite confusing.
The last one is the “King” played by Minami Keisuke.
“HIGH-TENSION & COOL” MINAMI KEISUKE
HiroC: Wah! Help me!
Minami: Hiroshi-kun! Hey, you criminal! Stop what you’re doing. Hey! Let go of Hiroshi-kun. I don’t care what you do to me, just let go of Hiroshi-kun, you understand?! Huh?
OnoD: What the heck are you doing? You’re supposed to be the king!
Shindo wins for me! Second is OnoD, 3rd is Yagami, last is Minami (not enough “high-tension” and not very “cool”). Who did you think acted in the most “high-tension & cool” way among the 4?
I enjoyed translating this episode very much. It’s hilarious. HiroC sounds super energetic, and the 3 guests did a great job of being entertaining.
I hope that you enjoyed it, as much as I did. Listen to a recorded copy of this episode below, which was kindly uploaded by dgs2703. どうもありがとう。
