Let’s Infiltrate Shueisha & Interview a Manga Editor (by Mami of Tofugu)

Hello, folks!  Happy Monday!  Today I’m featuring a very interesting blog post by Mami from a favourite blog, Tofugu, titled “Exploring Shueisha (and an Interview with a Manga Editor!)”.  As the title suggests, it’s all about exploring the home of the best-selling manga series of all time.  Yes, I’m talking about my favourites ONE PIECE, Dragon Ball, and Naruto.

In her post, Mami explores the Shueisha editing department with manga writer Joh Araki (城アラキ) and his manga editor.  You can view some pretty cool photos of the place, including some raw manga manuscripts.  How cool is that?

This post reminds me of scenes from a favourite series about manga-making, Bakuman.  Perhaps because the anime’s Yueisha is based on Shueisha, and Jack is based on Jump.

In addition to the cool photos, Mami includes an interview with a manga editor.  It’s quite insightful to learn the process of manga publishing directly from a manga editor.  Check out the interview!

I enjoyed reading this blog post by Mami of Tofugu.  I hope that you enjoyed it as much as I did.  If you like anime, manga, and Japanese culture, and you don’t know about Tofugu, there’s something wrong with you.

That’s all for today, folks!  Have a great week ahead.  Cheers!

  1. I read the linked post fully. Thanking the blogger for the tour! Fuu… it was tiring! And the mess in the office! I want to be a mangaka someday soon! When I read a manga, I try to think as a Mangaka, rather than an Otaku, that how the story, or the composition could’ve been better! I’m improvising:)
The interview was good.:) Thanks to you too Arria Cross!
