Watashi ga Iru Yo: A Love Song, Not a Nakama Song

Rating:  😀 🙂 (1 & 1/2 out of 5 grins)
Watashi ga Iru yo (私がいるよ) is the third ending theme song from my favourite anime series ONE PIECE, sung by Tomato Cube.  It runs from episode 64 to 73.

It’s a good song, lyrics-wise, but I don’t think it’s a very ONE PIECE song.   Sure, it sings about being there for your beloved person and supporting him/her.  But I think that it’s more of a love song than a nakama song, you know what I mean?  That’s why I don’t think it’s a ONE PIECE song.

Nevertheless, it’s a catchy song.  I don’t know about you, but the first time I heard this, the chorus part “Watashi ga iru yo~” instantly got stuck in my head.  I couldn’t help singing “Watashi ga iru yo~” at the most random moments, that it became irritating.  I’m not too fond of the vocals or the oldies feel of the musical arrangement, but you know, it’s still a good song.  What do you think?

The end theme from the first episodes. Don’t know the name of the lady who sings it.

Can you make a playlist of all One Piece themes so we can snag them? (that is a request from my son, not me.)

    1. Its titled “Memories” by Otsuki Maki. It’s my favourite, too. She sang another One Piece theme song, too.

Ahaha. Indeed. I have a playlist of ONE PIECE songs. No surprise there. There are, however, well-made made playlists from YouTube. Not just of the theme songs, but also of soundtracks.
