ONE PIECE Life Lesson: Call Me a Fool, I’m Just Chasing My Dreams

Rating:  😀 😀  (2 out of 5 grins)
Shōchi no suke is the fourth ending theme song of my favourite anime series ONE PIECE, sung by Suitei Shoujo (推定少女).  It runs from episodes 74 to 81.

To be honest, I’m not fond of this song.  It’s like listening to a group of girls singing karaoke by themselves.  I’m also not too fond of the melody.  I don’t think it’s that catchy.  Music-wise, I don’t think that this is a ONE PIECE song.

Saying this, however, I think that the one and only merit of this song are the lyrics.  Perhaps if the lyrics are sung with a different tune and different singers, it would be more acceptable as an OP song (for me, at least).

The lyrics are quite inspiring.  It speaks about admitting to be a fool, but not caring all that much because the most important thing is to chase one’s dreams, which is a very ONE PIECE-like theme. It also includes references about sailing a ship towards the horizon, chasing towards that dream.

I’m also not that impressed with the animation sequence for this ending theme.  It’s just a bunch of pictures of the Straw Hats.  There wasn’t really any movement compared to the other more dynamic ones like We Are!, the ultimate ONE PIECE theme song.

Overall, I like the lyrics more than the music.  I’m quite disappointed that the lyrics are way better than the music.  It’s still a ONE PIECE song lyrics-wise, but a forgettable one because of the music.
