    1. Oh wow. Both very sad endings, but great anime…both of them. I love Code Geass. I don’t know how to feel about the new anime this year. I think that Code Geass already ended perfectly. But of course I’m very curious about how they’re going to handle it after such a perfectly tragic ending. We’ll see. Crossing my fingers. And thank you very much for your kind words. Happy new Year, Annie. I appreciate you dropping by. Cheers!

    1. Oh wow. Really? The first anime you’ve watched? That’s so interesting. The first anime you’ve watched and it instantly became your favourite. What other series do you like?

  1. Tenchi Muyo!! But it has to be the original series….. older title I know but it has such wonderful characters, hilarious story line and some of the cutest theme songs ever!~! Crayon Shinchan also cracks me up endlessly and now I’m addicted to SAO~♡. =)

      1. Hmm…it’d be tough to choose as they’re of such different genre, but if I really had to choose it would probably have to be Tenchi Muyo! ..as it’s just so wonderfully hilarious, cute and even a bit mischievous ^^.

  2. I can’t really say I have a favorite, although what I’d say is closest.. I mean I’d understand if this didn’t really count, but I guess my current favorite is RWBY..? I mean out of all the anime I feel the most emotional connection towards RWBY. But i just don’t know if RWBY really counts to you 😛

      1. I can’t really determine what it is I love most, maybe the characters or the fighting animation. I also really love the potential in the story! Especially
Since it was originally planned to run for 10 volumes (seasons)

  3. I like One Piece when it was not yet soooooo very long. I dont really like it when it tends to be ridiculously long. For anime, depending on the genre, I have plenty but my current favorite anime w/c started first as a manga is none other than Fate/Kalied Liner Prisma Illya.

      1. Prisma Illya is a spin-off of Fate/Stay Night set in an alternate universe where it stars Illyasvil as the main protagonist. Its got humor, seriousness and ecchi in one great show. Season 3 is about to end. Need… to… download it, dang it…

      1. Hmm…not really, no. I’ve been watching more harem stuff of late (which is odd because I used to avoid them), but then I do like things with either a SciFi or Fantasy slant too. I think in general I try not to look at things by genre but by overall content.

      2. Awesome. Same here. I don’t really mind which genre the anime I’m watching belongs to, as long as the story engages and entertains me. Thank you very much for sharing your opinions with me. 🙂

      1. Evangelion… Umm, firstly, the drawing style is of the type I like most: near realistic bodies). Secondly, I would have to say it’s the overall mood that resonates with an aspect of me: gloomy, dark-ish, deep-ish.

Rurouni Kenshin… well, I used to like martial arts a lot (did some of them myself). And Kenshin, even though he was like (one of) the strongest swordsmen, he behaves in so honourable ways, trying to convert people for the better.

And for both of the above, I also like the “shy love” aspects, which is something that draws me to Japanese Manga/Anime overall. Western style of relationships feel “blunt” sometimes, come to quickly “to the point”.

      2. Cool. Both of them evoke seriousness that anime non-watchers don’t typically associate with “kids’ shows”. Oh well. They don’t know what they’re missing out. And yes, I completely agree with you about the “shy love” aspect. I also think that it feels endearing to watch characters who are trying to hold themselves back versus the bulldozer type relationships often portrayed in Hollywood. Anyway, thanks for sharing your opinions with me!

    1. Oho. These are anime that I haven’t watched yet (except for “Ghost in the Shell”). They’re in my ultra long to-watch list for how many years now. Which of these titles would you recommend me to watch first?

      1. Probably Unlimited Blade Works. It has an epilogue episode at the end which fills in some gaps and explains what the characters are doing after the main story line concludes. I wish More anime did that. Fill in some of the gaps, show what happened after [majordrama] concluded for the show etc.

  4. My favorite anime movie is Wilf Children. It takes an emotional investment to make it through that movie and it’s definitely not a movie for colder people.

My favorite anime is the original .hack series. Yeah, there are similar anime like SAO that are really good but .hack feels like it did a better job creating the isolation of being stuck in a game world by letting the other characters come and go as they please while Tsukasa couldn’t.

      1. Although I liked the emotion of the 2003 series, and I really liked the way they dealt will the earlier episodes, I don’t think it’s plot holds up against FMAB. Plus the 2003 series hasn’t got most of my favourite characters in it! Nor the awesome fight scenes. FMAB has everything 😀

      2. Ahaha. I can’t help but I agree with you. Besides the first anime veered away from the manga at the request of the mangaka, so it’s really great that they made a second anime that follows the manga more.

      1. That is hard to explain. But I think it is because of the show’s overall nature. Whenever I watch it I feel like I am getting a glimpse into the human condition. Some of the stories end tragically while others have a bright happiness about them. There is also a strong connection with nature and balance.

      1. Possibly. Since it means a lot to me, I doubt another anime could take it’s place in my heart, but as just a all-time favorite, it’s always possible that I’ll see something that strikes my fancy even more so. 😄

      2. I don’t really have a favorite genre: I like moe and psychological anime about the same, and I like shoujo and seinen about the same too. I adore sports anime and slice of life anime a lot too. I love a variety of good stories no matter the genre their I guess. 😄

    1. Great titles. Would you say that “Code Geass” is your #1 favourite of all time?

Oh my gosh. I really like “Kimi ni Todoke”, too, but I prefer the manga. I wish that they continue to adapt the rest of the manga into anime. And “Clannad” makes me sad.

      1. I liked the story and the motivation behind all of the characters. I also liked how it showed different view points of the same conflict. The animation was also good in my opinion.

    1. Ahahaha. Good for you that you like the old version more. “Neon Genesis Evangelion” is one of the most classics that really defined many anime today. And “Death Note” is one of my favourites as well.

      1. I do like the fantasy, and I must say that Sword Art Online was pretty mind blowing. I haven’t liked an anime that much in a long time.

I can overdose on occult! Loved it ever since the old school Vampire Hunter D came out and Death Note hooked me for life.

      2. I agree with that, without a doubt. 😀
I see. That’s interesting. I think the genre doesn’t matter too much if the story is interesting, right? Anyway, thanks for sharing your opinions with me. Cheers!

      1. Lol that “Naruto is famous for its fillers” is so true haha. Ugh that’s a really hard question since all of them were my childhood buddies buuut I’m saying “Naruto” cause it just gives me the “I hate fillers but I can’t make myself “hate” the series.” 😄

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Ahaha. I understand what you mean. I personally don’t mind fillers; my favourite ONE PIECE also has lots of fillers but they’re still pretty good, in my opinion, compared to Naruto fillers. But yeah, fillers aside, Naruto has a really engaging and entertaining story.

      1. I agree with you about the quality comment. Those two are masterpieces, although I also think that “Howl’s Moving Castle” is also a masterpiece. How about episodic anime series? Do you like any of them?

        Liked by 1 person

      2. I thought of episodic animes before I made my list, but none of them ever came as top top like the classics did. Mainly because most animes I watch, I usually have some problems with it. But if I had to choose a few that stuck with me emotionally and mentally then I would choose Naruto (childhood,) Code Geass, Inuyasha, Fruits Basket (at least the manga,) Tokyo Ghoul, Hotarubi no Mori e, Gugure! Kokkuri-san, Death Parade and maaaaaaybe Kuroshitsuji. I have not seen Attack on Titan yet but I heard it was brilliant.

      3. Oooh. I LOOOOOVE “Hotarubi no Mori e”! It’s one of the most beautiful & heartbreaking anime films that I’ve ever watched. I cried like a baby when it was all over. I can tell you that I was late to jump the “Attack on Tita” bandwagon as well, but when I finally watched it I instantly became a fan. It’s an awesome anime. Hope that you watch it soon when you have the time.

    1. My thoughts exactly. Most of them say that it’s a shallow series, but I suspect that they haven’t even watched it and they’re already commenting things like this. Anyway, happy to know that OP is also your favourite. Cheers! 🙂
