      1. Yes, it’s shoujo. Great titles. I enjoy these series, as well. It’s nice to know that you appreciate this kind of series, too. Anyway, thanks for dropping by, Takuto. Have a great week ahead. Cheers!

      1. Wow. That goes back some years. A female friend of mine actually got me into manga and CLAMP was my entry. For the series, I think, Angelic Layer, X1999, Tsubasa, Tokyo Babylon. This is bringing back memories.

      1. The characters and their interaction with each other. The comedy was also great, which mostly came from the characters interaction with each other. I just thought the characters were really well thought out and I loved their little quirks ^^

      1. Oh yeah I do both. It’s just that, I get bored reading shounen whereas I get bored watching shoujo you know? I need to watch the shounen while I prefer being in a confortable place reading a soft romance or slice of life.

      1. I tend to gravitate more towards shounen anime so that’s winning xD if I watch shoujo it’s usually because I read the manga and liked it or if it was highly recommended to me, but just on my own I don’t watch too much 😛

      1. That is kinda tough. I guess I would like to get into My Love Story. Anime Review Girl mentioned an a Shojo anime called Nana. I might try that one eventually.

      2. I’m planning to watch “My Love Story”, too, one of these days. I watched “Nana” long ago, but I don’t consider it as shoujo because it tackles a lot of mature subjects. It was very enjoyable. I hope that you watch it when you have the time.

      3. “Nana” is in my list of anime to watch, that and “My Love Story”. I like how in “My Love Story” the make protagonist is not a attractive guy like most Shojo manga. He is tough guy who has feelings for a cute girl. In a way, it reminds me of Beauty and the Beast.

      4. I know, right? Very interesting. I’m going to watch “My Love Story” soon, too. I also agree with you that I like that the protagonist is not your typical hot bishounen hero in shoujo series. Although I haven’t watched it yet, the blurbs makes it sound like the “Beauty and the Beast”. Yeah.

      5. It does look interesting and it is really different than any other Shojo series. I forgot to mention, I also want to try out Ouran High School Host Club. I heard it was a really funny series and I like the English Dub cast. Vic Mignogna (same guy who does Edward Elric) is funny in the show and also the other guys.

      6. Yes, Ouran is very funny. It’s not that romantic compared to other shoujo series, but it can really make you laugh out loud. Unfortunately, they didn’t adapt the whole manga, just the first part. I watched it in Japanese, so I don’t really know about the English dub.

    1. To a point, I can agree with that. Certainyl, the vast majority of my favourites seem to be seinen these days (at 31, I’m guessing this is a natural progression). I still find some shonen and shojo to be entertaining though, good art is good art after all, I just find less in the shonen and shojo shows than I used to.

      1. Sorry. Didn’t mean to ruin shonen and shojo for your kids; I’ve just seen too many and they’re starting to blur. From seinen I like the old standbys: Berserk and Golgo-13. From josei I’ve been enjoying Nana and Princess Jellyfish. I share them with my wife. 🙂

      1. Yes! I would’ve preferred something other than first love-only love but the content was not shallow at all which I really enjoyed. I love shoujo but a downside of a lot of them I find is that its a mere cat and mouse game of getting the other person followed with some petty conflict between them but ultimately it’s just fluff and love you know? This was definitely capturing and lots of deep conflict.

      2. I agree. Of course, there are some moments in “Black Bird” that I cringe at but overall, I agree with you that it was enjoyable. I really liked the steamy scenes and the art looks very nice.

  1. I’ve put both equally because I really think it depends on the series. A good series is a good series after all. For example, manga-wise, I love both W Juliet and Psyren but for different reasons. There are some good seinen series out there too.

    1. Well said. I agree that it also depends on the series. There are crappy shounen and crappy shoujo series out there. But if you were to choose just one genre between the two, which would you choose?

      1. Great titles. I don’t like “Naruto” as much because I’m on team ONE PIECE, but I’m not against it because I do enjoy it. And “Death Note” is just awesome. I rewatch it whenever I’m in a mood to watch something serious.

      1. Claymore is definitely my number 1, and it almost made me cry when the manga ended, then there is hunter x hunter, Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood, Hajime No Ippo, Attack on Titan (if you can consider it as shounen), and Fairy Tail if I want something lighter… 😀

      2. Cool. I only watched bits and pieces of “Claymore”, so I don’t really know everything that happened. FMA is one of my favourite series. Anyway, thanks for dropping by. Keep on watching anime. Cheers!
