HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Fujinsei’s New Year Blogging Resolutions for 2016

It’s freaking 2016, folks!  Can you believe it?  A new year has come!

Happy, Happy, Happy New Year, my dear friends!!!

Yesterday I shared some of the major 2015 blogging highlights of Fujinsei.  I’m really proud of them.  They help motivate me to improve this site even more.  That’s why I want to share some of my New Year Blogging Resolutions for 2016 in this post.  I’m hoping that by announcing it for everyone to see, I would hold myself accountable and force myself to accomplish them no matter what.

Arria’s New Year Blogging Resolutions for 2016:

Translate at least 200 episodes of Dear Girl ~Stories~
l’ve translated 80 episodes as of writing this post so far.  I still have a long way to go to get to 200 episodes, and an even longer way to go to catch up to the currently airing ones which is now in the 450’s.  But compared to saying I want to catch up with the currently airing ones, 200 episodes are more manageable.  Best of luck to myself.

Arria's Translations

Improve ALL of my horrid past DGS translations
I’ve always been transparent about how horrible my translations are.  I don’t like spending too much time translating an episode, so I don’t edit or proofread at all.  I also have—now I discover—a bad habit of not wearing earphones when translating so I mishear a lot of words.  Fortunately I became friends with an awesome manga fan translator recently.  She goes by the username Tricksyness and she’s become the unofficial proofreader of my DGS translations.  She’s ruthless when it comes to pointing out my mistranslations, but I’m thankful for her.  Unfortunately I’m usually too lazy to follow her corrections.  I’m still working on that.

Publish a comprehensive Glossary of DGS Terms
The Dear Girl ~Stories~ radio show has been running for almost a decade now, and like so many long-running series, they have created their own vocabulary that only regular listeners can understand.  I’ve been working on and off these past couple of months in creating a glossary page of relevant DGS terms spanning up to the episode that I translated and published here at Fujinsei.

Be more active on Twitter
I was a Twitter snob before because I had—still have—an issue with its character limit.  But it proves to be an extremely convenient means of communicating with my blog buddies outside my blog.  Unlike most bloggers, I don’t use Twitter or other social media platforms to promote Fujinsei.  Pro bloggers will tell you to exploit social media sites like Twitter and Facebook, but I frankly am not interested in dividing my already very limited time in many different directions.  I’m not comfortable sharing every single thing I’m doing on Twitter, but I want to use Twitter more to communicate with my blog buddies and readers of my blog.

Strengthen friendship with blog buddies
I can’t emphasize how thankful I am to be blessed with such wonderful blog buddies.  You know who you are, Friends of Fujinsei!  Blogging would be such a solitary and lonely activity if I didn’t have the constant support and friendship of these wonderful people.  THANK YOU!!!

Become official blog buddies with new anibloggers
There are a lot of anime fans creating their own aniblogs everyday.  Since a lot of my blog buddies are anibloggers, I’m looking forward to becoming friends with more anibloggers in the future with whom I can have fun discussions about anime and manga.  To my new subscribers who are also anibloggers, I’m looking forward to having more conversations with you.  Perhaps we can shift from mere acquaintances to official buddies.  That would be awesome.

That’s it for my 2016 New Year Blogging Resolutions for now.  I don’t want to overwhelm myself with too much goals right off the bat.  I will just have to continue what I’m doing and grow Fujinsei to the best of my abilities.  I’m sure that my new blog partner @pastelshion will help me.  I’m so happy about Fujinsei’s journey this past 2015 that I could cry.  Looking forward to more triumphs this new year!

The biggest THANK YOU to my amazing blog buddies, loyal readers, and also to my new subscribers.  Please continue to take care of me this year.
Yoroshiku Onegaishimasu!

How about you?  What are your New Year Resolutions?

That’s all for today, folks.  I wish you a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!  Let’s rock 2016, shall we?  Cheers!

  1. Ahaha, I can’t say I’m actually all that thorough, since I usually just point out and double-check stuff when you write stuff about the episode that I don’t remember them saying. But hey, don’t put yourself down like that! There may be tiny mistakes every now and then, but your translations aren’t so bad that they could be considered horrible!

Good luck on your DGS goal! Sounds like quite the challenge especially since you’re planning to translate a lot more dialogue in each episode. I don’t know if it’ll be of any use to you since you mentioned that you’re fine with just translating DGS as you listen to it, but I actually found a rather detailed Japanese DGS fanpage here. The link I gave directs you a part of its glossary page, which could be helpful if you want to do a little fact-checking for your own glossary. I skimmed through it and found that it actually has detailed summaries of each episode. It has even transcribed the FutsuSto letters, so perhaps it can help when you’re translating each letter?

    1. Aw shucks, Tricksyness. I think I’m going to cry. 😉
Hahaha. Anyway, thanks. I’m still on the hiatus, but I got a feeling that it’ll be over soon. We’ll see.

As for that DGS goal, one of my blog buddies just challenged me and predicted that I’m gonna fail. So I’m more motivated now to prove him wrong. Ahahaha. Hopefully, I’ll succeed. We’ll see. Crossing my fingers.

Oh wow. Thanks for this link. It’s awesome! I just bookmarked it now. A lot of the terms are already included on my list, but it’s always nice to have another reference. And I’m planning on making the glossary page to reflect the episodes that I’ve translated, so it won’t be as current. But oh well. That’s my way of doing things. Anyway, thanks a bunch for the link. Wow. I’ll use this for sure when I’m not feeling too lazy. 😉

  2. Wish you best of luck with that list, though I know you can do it ^.^ My only blogging resolutions are to find my voice and to continue having wonderful conversations with so many cool bloggers! Pretty sure I already said this, but Happy New Year to you as well, hope you had a great one! Mine was splendid. Let’s rock 2016!!

    1. Maraming salamat! Happy New Year din sa inyo. I’m looking forward to reading more of your intelligent posts. Mas magiging makata ako nito dahil sa mga posts mo. 🙂

      1. Ahahaha. Yes. It makes sense. So far, I haven’t broken any of the resolutions I wrote for this year. I’d say I’m doing a good job so far. We’ll see. But since you challenged me head-on about that 200 episodes translations one, I’m now more motivated.

  4. Happy New Year, dood!

Speaking of New Year’s resolution, I have a lot things to change, especially my attitude. It’s gonna be a tough struggle.

    1. Well, I didn’t inform anyone that I included them on the list. I hope you don’t mind. I just really appreciated your kindness to me for the year of 2015. Thank you. Let’s continue fostering our awesome WordPress anime community this 2016. Cheers!

    1. Yay! It makes me happy to hear you say that it makes you happy. But honestly, I’m very thankful to have online friends like you. It makes blogging all the more meaningful and more enjoyable. Thank you. And a toast for that: Let’s have another great year. Cheers!

    1. Ahahaha! Sure. Let’s have more conversations this year and then we can become great friends. Looking forward to that.

Yay. That’s a good goal. I’m sure you’ll achieve it. You have 12 months to do that. Go for it!

Anyway, thanks for dropping by. Happy New Year. Cheers!
