Ippo’s “Yuuzora no Kami Hikouki” Transports Me Back to My Childhood

Day 30:  A Song That You Haven’t Listened to in Awhile

A song that I haven’t listened to in awhile is the 1st ending theme song of one of my favourite sports anime Hajime no Ippo.  It’s called Yuuzora no Kami Hikouki (夕空 の 紙飛行機 / Evening Sky’s Paper Airplane) by Mori Naoya.

Wah~ It’s making me so nostalgic right now.  Hajime no Ippo is a staple of my childhood that just hearing its theme songs would immediately transport me back to my childhood.  Sniffs.  I can’t remember the last time I listened to this song.  I remember re-watching Hajime no Ippo just after I entered university, so it’s been 4-5 years since I heard this song.

But taking aside the special memories I have with the anime associated with this song, I actually think that Yuuzora no Kami Hikouki is beautiful.  It’s very meaningful, poetic, and relevant to the series itself.  It’s about the desire to achieve your dreams.

Now you know that Yuuzora no Kami Hikouki by Mori Naoya is a song that I haven’t listened to in awhile.  What’s yours?

  1. This one reminds me that people have dreams and that they will strive hard to attain it. I may not understand what the lyrics of the song means, but it feels sad to hear… yeah, sad like life, but bitter sweet, still.

      1. No problem. I don’t expect anyone to remember every song they heard before. I agree. BoA’s vocal range is quite limited, but she’s very charismatic that it doesn’t matter that much. Besides she chooses some good songs that it’s balanced, I guess.

      2. Seems my memory’s good depending on my sleep patterns, which are bad, but we won’t go into that. 🙂 BoA does choose a few great songs, but as for her vocal range, don’t poke me for this, but thank the gods she’s no Mariah Carrie. In my teens, her vocal range hurt my ears! All the high pitched notes were to much to take.

      1. That is true, but I made sure to post every single day (and sacrificed bits of my soul along the way) so that by the end, I was absolutely drained. Taking things at your own pace might have been the best way. Scratch that. It is the best way. Congrats again on surviving!

      2. Ahahaha! Sacrificed a little bit of your soul, huh? I can totally relate, although I’m glad that I didn’t try to do it everyday like you did. I have super limited energy and just completing it in 5 months is draining, how much more doing it everyday? Good job. And thanks. Congratulations on both of us. I don’t think I’ll accept challenges like this anytime soon. We’ll see.

      1. Oh! This is so nostalgic. I have the DVD of this. I think I was still in high school the last time I watched this. Hmmm. I can’t really recommend any sites to you that has this because I have an actual copy and watched it a long time ago. I hope that you get to watch it until the end. Good luck!
