Do You Watch Hentai Anime?

WARNING!!!  This discussion is suitable for adults 18 years and older only.

I did. . .I still do, occasionally.  I’m a very curious person, you know.  I’m disgusted with most of them, but a few impressed me, especially the ones with well-written stories that don’t just feature characters mindlessly fucking each other.  I’ll check an episode or two if I read a positive review about the title.  If not, I just stick to regular anime.

This year, however, I’m avoiding the genre altogether because of my frightening experience which I wrote about in “I Survived An Attempted Sexual Assault”.  Generally, I guess if it doesn’t contain rape, pedophilia or any of those illegal/immoral themes, I’m good.  Sign me up if the main theme is romance. . .well, good romance.  If not, forget it.

How about you?  Do you watch hentai/ero anime?

    1. My thoughts exactly. Although more than lust, it’s to satisfy my curiosity. I prefer real people, if you know what I mean. And just like you said, if it’s good story we want, we’re better off watching regular anime. Thanks for dropping by. Cheers!

  1. I like to watch Hentai as long as it’s consensual. I mean I do occassionally read rape fanfiction, but only reading. I HATE to watch it for some reason.
The first Hentai anime I watched was quite… bloody and scary, but had an interesting story line. I don’t even remember the name anymore…

      1. All right, I found the name of it (because I typed in mannequin in google…) . It’s called “Crimson Climax”
The anime is labelled as “Psychological Thriller” – so if you want to watch it, please do it with caution. It really is scary and bloody and consists of rape as well. Like I said: This was my first hentai anime and the rape scenes and the mannequins really scared me O_o

      2. Yeah, I know what you mean! I finished it – It’s not bad per se, the story line is more interesting than most hentai animes you see nowadays, but as for the blood and rape and these creepy mannequins etc. It… definitely left an impression on me. I still don’t know if the impression was good or not…

      3. I’m not watching any hentai/ero anime this year because of the attempted assault incident, so I don’t think that I’ll try watching this again. I’m just feel a little bad for you that this is your first experience with the genre. It’s too intense for a first-timer that’s for sure.

      4. Yup, it definitely was too intense. But I’ve seen worse scenes in mainstream TV shows/movies. My brother has the tendency to accidentally pick movies with… rather horrible scenes. I had to leave the room so many times because the scenes were too much for me (best example: Quentin Tarantino’s new movie)… Either I grew more sensible towards topics like rape, or the movies/TV shows really got more intense during the years that I can’t watch them anymore. Because this hentai movie seems almost tame in comparison.

      5. Oh no. Sounds horrible. Although I do think that there are different approaches that shows take when portraying horrible scenes like rape. Some are good ones that warn against it and features not only the horror but the sufferings the victims experience. On the other hand, there are disgusting ones that glorify it. Perhaps the ones you watched are the latter, that’s why you can’t watch them. I can’t either.

  2. I have to admit that I’m close-minded when it comes to heantai. Whenever I see the word hentai, porn immediately comes to mind. I’ve never watched a hentai series (I’m not sure if I ever will to be honest), because I’ve always assumed that the story wasn’t really important as long as there’s a really brutal hardcore scene.

    1. Well, it’s basically 2D porn so you’re not that far-off. It’s fine, though. Not everyone has a taste for it. Even I’m not that enthusiastic about it. I’ve watched some good ones, though. But if I want to watch an anime with a good story, I think it’s best to stick with regular anime rather than try to look for it in the hentai/ero genre. Anyway, thanks for sharing your opinion. Cheers!

  3. Occasionally I have wasted far too much time on bad hentai trying to find the rare good ones.
I want there to be more good hentai than there actually is. I mean, it’s not like I expect brilliance from it, but a shockingly large portion of it doesn’t seem to do even one thing right.

One thing I really want to know is why is that that so much hentai contains close-ups of body parts that are censored? I know about Japan’s weird censorship laws, but my question is, if it is censored, what’s the point of shots like that?

  4. My first experience with hentai was when I was at the beginning of puberty, so lil’ me was very happy. It was actually by accident, for the life of me I can’t remember what anime it was, but I was looking up titles and found a title that sounded cool, turned it on, and halfway through I was seeing boobs and explicit cartoon sex…..I couldn’t believe my eyes. So, like any puberty induced teen I instantly searched for more. The funny thing is, I’m not sure if it was because it was that long ago, but finding them subbed was so difficult. For the life of me I could only find hentai with spanish subs….man that infuriated me. But I got out of it after a few years. It really is just sex based, and I was starting to develop a taste for character and story.

    1. Oh my. Puberty, huh? The vulnerable phase of our lives. . .discovering hentai at this stage can be quite. . .interesting, to use a milder word. How about now? Do you still watch them?

      1. No. I gained a taste for character and story. Hentai, and really any porn, doesn’t do anything anymore and is more often annoying than anything else. I mean, I get it, people love big boobies but man is that getting tiring. Especially if that’s the only thing they’re selling. I like the real stuff, not the fake.

  5. he-he-he-hentai… >_>
I remember when I was watching romance H about that beautiful blonde-haired knight who looks like a boy in the past… hawawawa~ then I regret it. I’m not watching H anymore because my mind feels blank for several days… 😦
btw, it’s adaptation from game… I was playing it just for that blonde chick, the story was different from its adaptation, though. original version is “better”.

    1. Oooooooooh. I don’t believe that anime is familiar to me. Do you know the title? I can’t say that I watch a lot of hentai anime, so I’m not aware of most of the series. But I’m a curious person, so I like exploring now and then. 😉

Ahaha. That made me laugh. Hentai anime makes your mind blank for days. . . XD
But I guess it makes sense. The genre is certainly not everyone. Even I’m cautious about it.

      1. I’m a curious person too, I should not watching that kind of anime during puberty… maybe that’s why my mind feels blank :<
sorry, for some reasons I can’t tell what title 😦
though Isshiki Hikaru (Tanaka Ryouko) has been my fav CV since then… 😛
I wonder what seiyuu(s) did during voicing H-scene? ehe.

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Ahaha! I wonder about that, too. I also wonder how they feel towards the fellow seiyuu they’re in the studio. I assume that they’re fully-clothed while doing those sounds. I hope so.

    1. Makes sense, especially since anime costs more to make than the manga. You’ll get more abundance and content variety that way. Although I personally like anime when it comes to hentai because I want to “hear”, if you know what I mean.

  6. The occasional time I think that I want to watch some hardcore .. animated .. acts, I google any hentai title available on streaming sites, only to lose my interest within the first 5 min or so. IMO it’s just too boring and doesn’t hold my attention enough :p

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Ahaha! I can totally understand, although in my case, I don’t get bored as much as I’m dismayed by what I watch. But I still agree with the getting bored part. If they’re straitlaced and just about two people who are you know doing “it”, then I prefer to watch regular anime with good romance instead of a boring love story that only has sex as its main point.

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Oh I get dismayed too – like suddenly the thought of ‘why the heck am i watching this’ pops up within seconds the video plays :p But I won’t deny that I actually want to see a hentai with a good story or romance just so that its not just sex – its a pity there’s close to no anime like that (I haven’t heard of any myself xD)

    1. Ahahah! That made me laugh. I’m like you, too, when it comes to the seiyuu part. That’s how I got into listening to BLCD’s. It’s really an eye-opener hearing some of my fave seiyuu make moan and slurping sounds. As for hentai anime, I know that there are mainstream seiyuu who also does some hentai work, but I haven’t encountered one yet in my hentai watching experience or if I did, I had no idea. Perhaps they were using different names in the credits or they changed their voices. I don’t know.

As for the rape and tentacles, not all hentai are about them. There are more “straitlaced” ones, but those tend to be boring so I prefer to watch regular romance anime. I still don’t like rape, though, when it comes to hentai anime.

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Well… I am okay with regular romantic erotic anime. Seiyuu can change their voice, but most of the time, their moan can’t lie to my ears. Haha.
Actually, it is very rare for mainstream seiyuu to take part in H-Anime. But some of them, including the popular ones take part in H-Game. Under different name of course.

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Ahahaha! That’s so funny & interesting. I’ll be super impressed if you can really tell a seiyuu by their moan. As for me, it’s going to be a lot harder if they don’t speak at least a couple of sentences. I’ve read an article somewhere that female seiyuu faces some form of discrimination in the mainstream seiyuu industry if it’s discovered that she’s doing hentai work. Some males successfully do both under different names, of course. Double standards, no surprise.

  7. I use to watch Hentai and I don’t really care about stories, I’m more into good animation quality. This is why an Hentai like Fela Pure is one my favorite even if I’m not into incest stuffs. I don’t like pédophilia, zoophilia, SM Hentai.

    1. Ahaha. Well, then it’s better if you don’t watch any hentai anime, if that’s the case. You’ll just get dismayed because there are a lot more jiggly boobs in hentai and not only outrageous outfits but “no” outfits at all.

  8. I feel like I lie somewhere in between your yes and never options (poll). Like, I’ve watched…2? Previewed one and couldn’t commit. I would have to say that all three of them weren’t exactly in the white area, possibly gray @_@ but I don’t make it a habit to watch Hentai anime since the ones I’ve watched weren’t impressive (plot wise)

    1. I know, right? A lot of series in the genre are crap. I can totally relate. Besides there are way more awesome stories in regular anime than in hentai. I guess first and foremost, the driving force for us to watch any hentai anime is curiosity. We tend to get disappointed and dismayed a lot, though. Sigh. Oh well.

  9. Back when I was really into fantasy, somebody told me Bible Black was a super nice dark/horror anime. I trusted them without one search. However, I didn’t manage to watch more than one episode. Maybe I should give it a try, tho’. XD
Also, does Boku no Pico counts?
