Best Posts Round-Up of the 6th Fujinsei Blog Carnival

How’s your first weekend of November, folks? I hope you’re still as high as I am with all the candies and chocolates from Halloween. Ugh. I’m ashamed at my lack of self-control. Can’t help it, though.

But on another note, I’m super happy that Daylight Savings Time is finally ending tomorrow.  That means we get one hour extra sleep! Yay! (jumps up and sings while dancing) I’m so excited~ I just can’t hide it~. . .ahem!  Anyway, let’s return to the topic at hand. Without further ado, I hereby declare the 6th Fujinsei Blog Carnival officially CLOSED! I know, I know. I’m sorry for the delay, but better late than never, right? Ehehehehe~ My biggest thanks as always to all the participants. You rock! These carnivals wouldn’t be possible without you.

For this carnival, there are 45 “approved” entries. There were originally over 50 entries, but I had to delete those who violated the carnival rules. Please, please, please, I beg you. Read the rules first to avoid your submission from getting deleted. It saves everyone’s time. The main issue is not including the title of your post and a short description. Why am I so strict about this, you ask? It’s because I want to be fair to everyone, especially to the ones who take the time and effort to follow the rules.  In this way, I’ll see and acknowledge your desire to actually engage with the community and not just thoughtlessly leave your link and move on without a second glance just to get extra traffic. Remember that I launched this blog carnival to foster a give-and-take relationship between us otaku bloggers in this community. If you’re not interested in connecting with other bloggers, then I’m sorry to say that my blog carnivals are not for you.

Now enough of my nagging. I know you want to know who made it through my best posts round-up.  Here they are:

Arria’s Best Posts Round-Up of the 6th Fujinsei Blog Carnival:
(arranged alphabetically)

“18 Success Lessons You Shouldn’t Miss From Sinbad no Bouken” by Ma. Venus Gamboa (Japanime Talks) – a list of life lessons on success you can learn from Sinbad no Bouken

“Am I an Anime Hipster” by Leap250 – a personal post sharing the author’s disinterest with mainstream anime

“Aria – a Nod to Traditional Japanese Aesthetics” by kindle (Nichi Nichi-chan) – an impressive analytic review of Aria from an artistic perspective

“BiVisiblity Day 2016” by mattdoylemedia – I argue that this post is the most socially relevant among this carnival’s entries; an insightful analysis of bisexuality in The Legend of Korra and Ghost in the Shell; MUST-READ!

“Kuro’s Guide to BL, Yaoi and Shounen Ai – Where to Start!” by TwoHappyCats (Kurosama Reviews) – my favourite post in this carnival; an insightful post discussing the BL genre and most importantly, the issues commonly associated with yaoi series

“I Want to be the Very Best” by Karandi (100 Word Anime) – a more pragmatic view on the “obsession” of shounen series’ main protagonists to the detriment of their social relationships with other characters

“Sakamoto desu ga is actually a sad story?” by KKSparrow – an intriguing theory speculating that the character of Sakamoto in Sakamoto Desu Ga hides sadness despite his cool and outlandish persona

“Same Song, Second Verse” by Grant the Thief (Blade Licking Thieves) – a very relatable post discussing the tendency of modern anime fans to watch new titles more than rewatching old favourites; also touches upon the burn-out from wanting to watch too many anime

“The Genre of Ironic Chemistry: Everyone Meets Everyone” by Cauthan Reviews – an excellent analysis connecting 6 anime series including  Durarara!!, Working!!, Baccano, Yozakura Quartet: Hana no Uta, Toaru Majutsu no Index, and it’s spin-off series Toaru Kagaku no Railgun.

“Why Does God Allow Suffering?” by neighborhoodotaku (Otaku Collision) – engaging analysis of pain and suffering in Fullmetal Alchemist from a Christian perspective

I’m very pleased with the scope of topics in this blog carnival. I enjoyed reading the entries—and yes, I read ALL submissions. I had about 19 favourite posts, but I had to reduce them to only 10. Here’s a bow and applause to the 10 bloggers who wrote the awesome posts I listed above. Yours are the best! Thank you very much for sharing them with us. Please keep on writing more amazing posts and participate again on the next carnival.

If you missed this carnival, I’ll be holding the 7th one this coming Monday (November 7).  Please stay tuned.  I’m looking forward to reading more amazing posts.  Thank you very much.  I’ll see you on Monday for the 7th Fujinsei Blog Carnival.  Take care.  Cheers!

  2. I keep saying this: but I do think it is absolutely wonderful to see all the talent that is out on this community. I learn something new every day, and it is just wonderful to read all the posts that are out here ( that, and the amount of new shows and things I discover every week ). I think it is awesome you are hosting something like this 😀
