Good day, folks! It’s officially spring season, and I can’t wait for the weather to follow suit. What’s more, there are exciting new anime titles to be aired this spring, and I’m sure all of us can’t wait to watch them. Anyway, let’s get on to business. Without further ado, I hereby declare the 10th Fujinsei Blog Carnival officially CLOSED! This carnival saw a total of 33 “approved” entries. Not bad.
Once again, thank you to all the participants. These carnivals are nothing without you. I hope that you continue to participate and have fun connecting with each other. Now let me present my favourite posts from this carnival. Here they are:
Arria’s Best Posts Round-Up of the 10th Fujinsei Blog Carnival:
(arranged alphabetically)
“Because we’re both girls: Scum’s Wish, first love and finding solace in yuri” by Elisabeth O’Neill (Little Anime Blog) – a touching post about yuri in the anime Scum’s Wish and connecting it with the blogger’s personal experience
“Clamp, or How the Forbidden Contrasts Commonality” by fumigami – fascinating post about the allure of CLAMP’s works such as Angelic Layer & Chobits in taking ordinary stories and making them extraordinarily memorable
“Ghost in the Shell: Merging identities” by blautoothdmand – an impressive academic post discussing identity issues in series like Ghost in the Shell; highly recommended
“I Really Do Adore Love Stage But You Have To Admit Its Rape Culture Is Showing” by Katrina Sade (Grimm Girl) – a thought-provoking discussion about rape culture in Love Stage and other yaoi series; MUST-READ!!!
“Life as an Anime” by Karandi (100 word Anime) – a fun, almost game-like post, encouraging you to imagine yourself as an anime character following a common pattern in some popular anime
“Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: Brainstorm | Watching People Watch Anime” by NaChiKyoTsuki97 (Atma & Funomena) – an impressively written post discussing the anime Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid with livetweeting and live reaction phenomenon
“Mogu Mogu! Japanese Sweets by Sound” by A.Foo (Bites of Oishii) – a fun & informative post featuring yummy Japanese sweet desserts complete with pictures categorized by their onomatopoeic qualities; made me hungry; MUST-READ!!!
‘The Problem With “The Savior of Anime”’ by JuJu (Soul Chain Blog) – an intriguing rant against the belief that anime is dying
I enjoyed reading all the posts in this carnival, especially my favourites listed above. I’m so impressed with the quality this time. Wow. Well done! And once again, thank you very much for participating to my carnival.
Please join me again for the next blog carnival which I’ll be hosting on Monday (April 3). I’m looking forward to reading more awesome posts. If you have blogging friends who you think may be interested in participating, by all means, please spread the word about my carnivals. All otaku bloggers unite! I hope to see you all again on April 3 for the 11th Fujinsei Blog Carnival. Have a great day, folks! Cheers!

Hey, thanks for sharing! I’m glad you found my post enjoyable, even if I did get a bit mean-spirited at the end, haha!

You’re welcome. And yeah, you were a bit mean-spirited but that was what made your post all the more interesting, so good job. I hope to see you again at my next carnival. Cheers!

My favorite of the bunch was the Bites of Oishii post. Trending and customary foods are like a window into time, it’s fun to take a peak. It’s interesting to see how foreign involvement influences a country.
The historical framing of food reminded me of the food history posts Daishomaru made about Shokugeki no Soma, though much cuter and easier to read.
Anyway, ‘grats to everyone. Looking forward to see what comes out of the next one.

Bites of Oshii’s post was really good. It also doesn’t hurt that it was the only post in that category in the entire carnival. I also enjoyed it. And very true!
Thank for participating. I enjoyed your post. Hope to see you at the next carnival again. Cheers!

Thanks for your lovely and thoughtful comment! It’s easy to be passionate about the amazing food in Japan. As I’ve grown up in Australia, I find the traditional red bean paste type sweets an acquired taste, but this can change over time too. With the foreign influences – there’s plenty for everyone there.
