Dear Girl ~Stories~ Episode 36 Recap & Selected Translations
by Arria Cross
Ep. 36 Title: 『なにもす』じゃねえよ、『ひねもす』だよ！！ (「Nanimosu」 janee yo, 「Hinemosu」 da yo!! / It’s not “What mosu”, you know, it’s “Hinemosu”!!)
The 36th episode starts. The first thing to notice is that DGS has a new opening theme song, “Say Your Name！～DearGirl～”. It’s the lead song of their first DGS CD which just released on December 19 (2007).
They talk about the jacket cover of their CD. OnoD thinks it looks cool. The image of them on the jacket shows both of them holding a letter each. HiroC says that it’s like Dear Letter. They say that they take responsibilities for the look of the CD jacket. OnoD thinks that the black & white contrast of their suit jackets looks good.
OnoD: 「Nanimosu」 janee yo, 「Hinemosu」 da yo!! (It’s not “What mosu”, you know, it’s “Hinemosu”!!)
HiroC: Ahahaha! How long are we going to talk about this?
They’re referring to OnoD’s first mini-album Hinemosu (ひねもす). HiroC is always teasing OnoD that he can’t remember the title of the album, saying “What mosu is it again?” or “Nanimosu” in Japanese.

Congratulations on the release of your CD, HiroC & OnoD!
Both: Thank you very much!
The CD jacket looks wonderful, isn’t it? I’m impressed more than I expected. I have a question. What kind of image did you have in mind for the jacket cover?
HiroC repeats what he said in the opening talk, saying both he and OnoD take responsibility for the look of the jacket image.
HiroC: The idea comes from the question, “If you’re going on a date, what kind of clothes are you going to wear to get into the mood?”
OnoD: They wrote “Wear clothes that will put hearts on ladies’ eyes”.
HiroC: Yes, yes.
OnoD: Eh..so we…
HiroC: So we were, like, “We’ll do our best”.
Given this prompt, they brainstormed about what kind of clothes to wear for a date. OnoD began sharing the reason why he chose the colour white, but then HiroC asks him if he thinks what he’s saying is interesting, and OnoD answers that his own story doesn’t sound interesting. Ahahaha!
HiroC: One of our female staff, Tam Tam, who always updates our mobile site…I asked Tam Tam, “Hey, Tam Tam. If you were going on a date with me, what clothes do you think is good for me to wear?”, is what I asked her frankly. Ahahaha!
OnoD: That’s cool! That was very cool!
HiroC: And she was like, “Well then, a jacket or something”.
OnoD: She sounded unexcited. Ahaha!
HiroC: She’s always like this. She was like, “Well then. Wear a jacket or something.” That’s why I decided to wear a black jacket.
HiroC: And Ono-kun, did we talk about this?
OnoD: We did a little. We texted.
HiroC: Ah, is that so?
HiroC: So that’s why we matched?
OnoD: Yeah. You were like, “So it’s jacket then!”
HiroC: Ehehe. We both look kimochi warui on this picture.
OnoD: We don’t look kimochi warui!
OnoD: What are you talking about?
HiroC: We look like weird hosts.
OnoD: Ehehe. Yes, we look somewhat like hosts but…
HiroC: We look like unpopular hosts.
OnoD: We look like hosts from a rural town.
Ahahaha! Ahahaha! Ah, my tummy hurts from laughing. I like that they’re both self-deprecating. I can see what they’re talking about, but I’m sure that we all think they’re adorable, albeit a bit awkward in the jacket cover.
OnoD: And the background behind us…
HiroC: Yeah, the background. What graveyard did we take this photo?
HiroC: What graveyard is this?
OnoD: What graveyard are we meeting up for a date?
HiroC: This is supposed to look like Paris, was it?
(asking the staff)
HiroC: Paris location? Paris?
OnoD: Ah, Paris!
They joke that they flew all the way to Paris just for the photoshoot of the CD jacket. They comment that Paris was quite near, so they didn’t have any trouble travelling. Ahaha! But after the jokes, they explain that the whole idea of the overall image of the jacket cover was the two of them coming to a forest-like place and waiting for someone by a flowerbed.
HiroC: But your eyes in this shot, Ono-kun, look a little scary.
OnoD: Yeah. You’re right. They look—
HiroC: To be frank, they look like the eyes of a murderer.
OnoD then goes on with the idea that he murders a lady in the photo, but HiroC cuts him off before he goes way off-topic. HiroC observes that behind them is something that looks like a stone. OnoD says that it looks like a coffin or something, but it’s actually a flowerbed. Then he states that the image that they want to convey is that of Dirty Agents. Ahahaha!!! Finally, they say that one can create several stories as to what is really happening based on the jacket photo.
Sent by Ayako, read by OnoD:
Good evening, HiroC & OnoD! I listened to “Say Your Name! ~Dear Girl~”. I think it’s a really great song. I think that it’s a very warm and kind song, enveloping each and every one of our hearts with its lyrics, melody, and HiroC & OnoD’s singing. I think that the song is overflowing with your kindness like how you usually do your best to seriously help us on radio with our concerns, even while joking, and not treating our concerns like just any other people’s problems.
(pause, ehehe. They’re feeling shy~)
HiroC: She’s killing it with the compliments in this mail.
OnoD: What high praises.
HiroC: Thank you very much. Then let’s just receive all these praise, shall we?
OnoD: Nothing else we can do besides receive the praise, right? It’s better not to act all tsundere in this situation.
HiroC: I’m just saying that this makes us feel very thankful, doesn’t it?
OnoD: I know, right? I feel like we haven’t received this kind of straight-forward mail for a long time.
They say that they worked hard recording “Say Your Name! ~Dear Girl~”. HiroC reveals that both of them found the chorus to be very difficult and challenging to sing. They were told to sing the chorus repeatedly because it’s so high, and they couldn’t get it right the first time around.
OnoD was instructed to sing in falsetto, while HiroC was barely allowed to sing in his normal singing voice. But then at the end of the chorus, there’s a part that they had to raise their pitch to half-tone and they barely made it. OnoD confesses that singing in falsetto makes him feel kimochi warui. HiroC shares an instance when they were listening to the playback and OnoD comments, “I sound kimochi warui.” Then he was told to not listen to the playback anymore. Ahaha!
Then, of course, OnoD just had to talk about “DIRTY AGENT”. He says that it’s probably his most favourite song in the CD. But then reveals that during recording, the part that he most wanted to sing was given to HiroC instead. Ahahaha! HiroC asks him what part he’s talking about. OnoD says it’s this part:
Koi ni ochiru no kai?
Ruretto de ii
Chuucho naku Dive in love”
-“DIRTY AGENT”, Kamiya Hiroshi & Ono Daisuke
躊躇なく Dive in love”
-「DIRTY AGENT」, 神谷浩史＋小野大輔
“Are you falling in love
with a parachute on?
with no hesitation Dive in love”
–liberal English translation by Arria Cross
OnoD: I was like, “That sounds so nice~”.
HiroC: You like that part?
OnoD: I wanted to sing it.
HiroC & Suwa: Ahahaha!
HiroC: You like this part, don’t you, program writer Suwa?
“Dokushinjutsu o kechirasu
Honoo no kisu no mezame”
-“DIRTY AGENT”, Kamiya Hiroshi & Ono Daisuke
-「DIRTY AGENT」, 神谷浩史＋小野大輔
“To kick about reading lips
Wake up from that fiery kiss”
-liberal English translation by Arria Cross
HiroC: What kind of kiss is this? Also the line “baku mo ezuku akumu no door” is also amazing, right?
-「DIRTY AGENT」, 神谷浩史＋小野大輔
“A door leading to a Baku spirit vomiting nightmares.”
-liberal English translation by Arria Cross
A baku spirit is a Japanese supernatural creature that eats dreams and nightmares.
HiroC: Please listen to the song and confirm what we’re saying for yourself.

They feature the manga Torikagosou no Kyou mo Nemutai Juunintachi (鳥籠荘の今日も眠たい住人たち) by Takarai Rihito (宝井理人) from Sylph Comics Volume 5. This magazine volume will also include a 2008 illustrated calendar.
Takarai Rihito-sensei’s Futsu Sto:
I’m currently drawing the protagonist of my manga which will be serialized for the first time on Sylph Comics Volume 5 from a model. I have my own way of drawing so catching the emotions of the model into my drawing is challenging. So I have a request to both of you. Please try becoming models for drawings and tell me how it feels like. Please try drawing each other. Please tell me what you feel when you see a person closely observing and drawing you. Thank you for your help.
They already did this challenge before in Episode 21. HiroC demands who should take responsibility for this kind of mistake. Is it the staff for allowing a repeat challenge sent by a mangaka? Or is it Takarai Rihito-sensei for being a newcomer in the show and not listening to the previous episodes? OnoD immediately comes to Takarai-sensei’s defense.
But because this is Sylph Danwashitsu and the mangaka are absolute in this corner, they’re still going to do the drawing challenge. To motivate the two, they’re told that whatever they draw here will be used as the design to the T-shirts their characters will wear on their upcoming DGS manga Hibiki.
The staff brought actual blank T-shirts for them to draw on. It seems that it doesn’t have to be an actual drawing. Even writing characters is also okay.
HiroC: Ah! So hard to write! So hard to write on this.
OnoD: (singing) Try drawing~ Try writing~ Try drawing~ Hibiki’s logo~ If we draw, then it’s done~ What a bitter opinion!
HiroC & Suwa: AHAHAHA!!!
HiroC’s T-shirt Illustration:
The round face of his cat, Nyanko-sensei
OnoD: Isn’t that cute~
HiroC: I don’t think it’s good. I don’t like how it’s drawn.
OnoD’s T-shirt Illustration:
HiroC: What did you write, Ono-kun?
OnoD: It’s from HiroC & OnoD’s…C&D.
HiroC: Ahahaha!!! It’s like the logo for Dolce & Gabbana! Ahahaha!
OnoD: Yeah! This is it.
HiroC: Will that really be okay?
OnoD: Simple is best.
They wonder if what they did will satisfy Takarai-sensei because it’s totally different from the original request.
They observe that their CD has been thoroughly promoted in this episode. OnoD then says that if the show someday is adapted into an anime, he wants the song “DIRTY AGENT” to be the opening theme song. HiroC is amazed at OnoD’s positive outlook, dreaming of an anime for the show. They talk about how the opening theme song will look like.
Christmas special will start the week after, so there will be a lot of Christmas presents to be won on the website. OnoD messes up reading. Ahahaha! It would be a busy season for them with the Christmas special underway, the release of DGS CD and Sylph Comics Volume 5.
The ending theme song is also changed into “Kienai Omoi ~Dear Letter~” (キエナイオモイ ~Dear Letter~). ♥♥♥

They really focused on their CD in this episode. I like that they shared some of their experiences recording some of the songs on the album. That was really fun to listen to. So funny. I hope that you enjoyed this episode as much as I did. Cheers!
And that’s it for the 36th episode of DGS.
