New Year, New Beginning

Hello! Do you still remember me? Arria here. I’ve missed you! This is me officially announcing the end of my year-long blogging hiatus for the entire year of 2018.

All I can say about my abrupt hiatus is that it was a difficult but necessary decision. Due to personal issues, I had to temporarily stop blogging. I didn’t expect that it would last for an entire year but it did.

Do I regret it?

For my well-being, no. I don’t regret it. Thanks to my 1-year hiatus, I feel brand new with a full-tank of motivation and determination. I feel more…sane, if you know what I mean.

But for the abruptness of it, yes. I regret it a bit. I wish I could’ve eased into the hiatus and announced it clearly. I should’ve handled it better. I feel that I let people down.

I still have a lot of catching up to do, and I hope to reconnect with you again. It’s been so long that I feel like a newbie. It’s an exciting feeling.

I Still Love Blogging
You may wonder why I still bothered to return when I’ve been gone for an entire year. Well, what can I say? I still love blogging.

This recent hiatus is undoubtedly the longest I’ve taken. I really burned myself out badly this time. But the desire to blog is still there. I think it’s the same as my love for anime. I don’t think I’ll ever outgrow it. I may not do it as regularly as before, but I don’t think I’ll quit. Hopefully not.

Simplicity is the Goal
I definitely bit off more than I could chew when it came to blogging before. I overestimated my energy and capacity, taking on too many tasks than I could manage.

This time, I want to take things in a more leisurely manner. My horoscope for this year says that I should prioritize my peace of mind (I’m superstitious!). And that’s what I plan on doing.

So to match my new approach in blogging, I finally updated my blog’s look. No more colourful and loud colours. No more complicated menus and knick-knacks.

My blog is now simpler and more streamlined. What do you think about its new look?

I would also like to make another announcement.

I’m now an official webnovelist!

Yay! Did you ever expect that from me? I sure didn’t. It was an impulsive decision that led to an unexpected opportunity.

Currently, I’m a contracted author at My first webnovel is a romance fiction titled “His Genius Wife is a Superstar”. Please check it out!

If you’re interested in reading it, please use my friend invite to sign up at There are a lot of amazing English-translated Chinese novels like “The King’s Avatar” by Butterfly Blue, “Coiling Dragon” by I Eat Tomatoes and other similar masterpieces.

Recently, English-translated Korean novels such as “Golden Time” by JungYong are also made available.

Perhaps in the future, English-translated Japanese novels will also be made available in this website. I sure would love for that to happen. Hopefully, they negotiate with their Japanese counterpart and strike a deal, just like what they did with Korean Munpia. Crossing my fingers!

In addition to all these translated novels, there are also a lot of original stories just like mine. Some of us have signed contracts which means that we’ll get paid when our novels become premium. Mine isn’t yet because it’s too early. I just published about a month ago. But it will eventually. 😉

Anyway, please check out and see whether my story “His Genius Wife is a Superstar” interests you. Here’s my friend invite. Hope to see you there!

More Personal
Because I’m now a webnovelist, in addition to being a blogger, I also plan to use this blog to document my writing journey. So I think that things will get a little more personal here.

Don’t worry. I’ll still write the usual anime and otaku content but maybe they’re going to be a bit more introspective than before.

I guess this heralds a new direction for my blog and for me as a blogger. I’m not sure how things will turn out, but I think that this will be more comfortable and sustainable for me.

I hope that you can join me in this new journey. Thank you very much! Happy New Year!

Haha. I’m back!

If you’re interested, consider supporting my work as a blogger & webnovelist here. Thank you!

  1. It’s great to have you back Arria-san!
I’m sorry to hear about the hard time you’ve had.
I’ll definitely check out those web novels!

  2. I’m very sorry to hear that you had such a hard time last year. I can’t say I wasn’t worried. I still visited your blog occasionally to see if you’re well.
But as I had huge setback from middle of 2018 onwards too, I feel bad for forgetting your blog.
The only thing I could think of were my own problems and the problems of my family. I still do, but I’m trying to distract myself from it – that’s why I’m here.
I’m happy you’re back and am curious to check out the novels! I’m happy you did that. I think that will make you happy as well. I think we need some task in our lifes

Btw. I’m kana_hagino from before. But I deleted my wordpress account.

  3. Damn I didn’t know that the author will be someone with such a story behind him. I found this blog because I became addict to ur novel on webnovel, was trying to find some other translator of the same story, may be someone will be more advanced. … so like that I can read more chapters :p
Finally no, u’re the only one and only on webnovel, I would like so much enjoye a big time of chapters but I’ll try to slow down since it’s hopeless :p
But happy that u’re healthy now, even if I learn about the story before yourself, stay healthy, I’m sure I’m not the only one which want more chapters of ur novel :] Not an other novel, ur novel :]

    1. Oh wow. Thank you very much for visiting my blog from reading my novel. My novel is not a translation and I’m still writing it, so unfortunately no advance chapters besides the one I’m posting on Thank you very much for reading & for the support. I always appreciate it. Cheers!

  4. Welcome back and congratulations on the webnovel! Wellbeing is always more important than blogging so it’s good that you’re in a better place now. Looking forward to reading about your journey!

  5. Hey, welcome back! And congratulations on becoming a web novelist! And yeah, I am kinda familiar with Chinese web novels as well. A fellow otaku directed me to a Qidian website and asked me if I wanted to do translating work for them.

But I had to turn him down because I was busy working on my book.

I like to encourage new novelists so let me know if there’s anything I can do to help. I don’t know the genre of your current novel but if you ever need help with esoteric martial art terms, I am your otaku!

    Okay, talk to you later!

    1. Thank you! Oh wow. So you are familiar with Qidian. I’m currently writing romance fiction. Started writing it for fun, didn’t expect I’d immediately get an offer. But after finishing this novel, I might try writing in another genre. We’ll see. Anyway, do you also accepting editor jobs?

      1. I guess it depends on my schedule? I might accept a one-time gig. Like maybe look through several chapters and then charge a small fee for my service. But it won’t be a regular thing.

      2. Oh I see. Thanks. It’s just that a lot of the authors in webnovel are looking for reliable editors. I don’t think I need one at the moment but I might. And also I know other authors who are looking for one.

      1. In fact, there were months that felt burned out on blogging and took a break, just returned to it last week. 🙂 No worries, I’ll give it a read! ^_^ Can I please ask a favor? Either tonight or tomorrow a writing post will go up, I’m gonna use 2019 and get a few stories done and I hope out for people to read, but the fiction site I was on, the webmistress had issues with how I worded disclaimers. Even when I worded it the way she told me too and reuploaded it, she claimed I did nothing to fix it. If you read my post, can you advise me about other websites that might be better for me than the one I’ll talk about?

    1. Thank you! I’m also glad that I’m back. 😆 And of course I remember you. We interacted a lot before.

But eh? How come it says I don’t follow your blog? Did you change it? Anyway, thanks for dropping by. Take care. 😊

  8. Welcome back! I’d noticed you were streamlining the design, and I wondered if you were coming back.

I like the new look — clean, simple, easy to see what’s new. Puts the focus on the writing where it belongs!

    Glad you’re back!
